1998 BMW 5-Series . Condition is Used. I’ve owned this ’88 528e since 2006. Fast forward fourteen years, 48k miles added to the odometer, I have had to reach a hard decision. It wasn’t easy, but I had to detach my love of the brand and sentimentality to this Beemer. The primary repair that I cannot afford and have dealt with over the last 24 months is a blown head gasket. A recent secondary repair has now deemed it undrivable. About a year ago, the starter was having trouble turning the flywheel. Had it repaired so I could continue driving, but now the starter will not engage the flywheel. I suspect many of the teeth on the flywheel are damaged. I have all the records of repair and can share a detailed spreadsheet with those that are interested. Context-I have had to make about $12k in repairs over these last 14 years (purchased in 2006), so maintaining it was always important to me. The car is in Indian Rocks Beach, FL(33785). I am hoping that this Beemer will find its way to someone who has the time, knowledge, and dollars to repair it, or perhaps it can be of more value for parts.
