Vehicle description

For sale is my beautiful and well maintained 1988 BMW 325i E30 Convertible. This car is a great example of a well loved, well maintained, and highly desirable BMW. Highlights include new paint, new tires, fresh motor and transmission and much much more. Details can be found below. The car has been maintained by Independent Import Services, a very well known shop here in Utah, since 2007. I have well over $13k in receipts for this car that will be included with the sale. I will do my best to describe the condition of this car, please feel free to reach out to me with any additional questions after you have read my description.
Exterior : The exterior condition of this car is in fantastic shape as the pictures show. The car was resprayed in it"s original factory silver color back in 2011 and still looks extremely good. The respray was professionally done and shows no evidence of body work, paint drips, clear coat fade, or any other obvious imperfections. It shines up very nicely and looks great in person. The dark blue convertible top is manually operated and works properly. I believe the canvas section to be original, but it shows no evidence of excessive wear or tearing. All exterior lights are in great shape and work correctly. Wheels show a few small scratches here and there but overall look great. The car has brand new tires. Most importantly, this is a dry Utah car, so there is ZERO structural rust anywhere on the car. Frame rails, floor pans, spare tire well, cowls, window frames, door seams, rocker panels, quarter panels and wheel wells all look fantastic with zero visible rust or bubbling. As you probably know, these cars are notorious for rust issues, so save yourself the hassle and start with a clean, dry example like this one.
Exterior flaws: The plastic rear window has been replaced but has developed a small crack in the bottom corner due to improper storage. The crack has been patched with some vinyl repair tape, so it does not leak. Some of the rubber convertible weather stripping and rubber window sweeps are starting to show their age. Windshield has a small crack on the passenger side. Small ding on the front drivers cowl above the airdam. Small ding on the top of the trunk lid and slight wrinkle on the back panel of the trunk. Overall the car looks great and would fit right in with you local car show or cruise night.
Interior: The black interior is complete and looks very presentable. It features black sport seats with working manual adjustments and the rare 13 button onboard computer. All switches and buttons work correctly including the cruise control, power locks, power mirrors and power windows. The AC has been converted to R134A which works correctly and blows very cold air. Factory stereo has been replaced with an upgraded JVC CD player with working Blu-tooth.
Interior flaws: The black seat covers were replaced back in 2011 when the car was painted, but some of them have since split. Drivers seat cushion and drivers outside bolster have splits. Rear seat upper has cracking on top. Rear seat bottom and passenger seat are in perfect shape. Center console has some bubbling in the rear inside the storage tray. Drivers side seat belt buckle has a small missing piece from the red release button. Dash pad has typical cracking which is covered by the black dash mat. Overall the interior is very comfortable and presentable and well suited for a daily driver.
Mechanical: The mechanical condition is probably the most important factor when looking at E30s. They tend to be very reliable if maintained, but when neglected can turn into a very expensive problem. The car currently shows 190k on the odometer which I believe is correct. Back in 2012 when the car had 170k mile, Independent Import removed the motor and transmission for inspection. At that time a new low mileage motor was acquired and refreshed to replace the tired original motor. The transmission was sent out to a separate shop to be refreshed as well. The included receipts which will be included show the detailed work that was done, so i will not list every thing here. Other notable items that have been replaced or repaired include the brakes, shocks and upper mounts, struts and upper mounts, radiator, thermostat, water pump, coolant hoses, O2 sensor, battery, and much much more.
Mechanical flaws: This car has very few mechanical flaws. The drivers side steering rack boot has been replaced, but the passenger side boot needs to be done as well. The transmission pan seeps a small amount of fluid. Mostly it"s just enough to be visible when inspecting, but the car will occasionally leave a drop of fluid on my garage floor. The gauges occasionally don"t work which is a common problem with these older instrument clusters caused by loose contacts. When this occurs a simply tap on top of the dash immediately fixes the issue. Not really a big deal, but I wanted to mention it.
Overall the car runs and drives extremely well. Motor starts immediately and idles nicely. It has a great throaty sound and provides plenty of power. Battery was replaced and valves were adjusted earlier this year. Transmission shifts smoothly as it should. Suspension is smooth and firm as is should be without any unusual bumps or clunking. This is just a fantastic car that drives exactly as it should. I would not hesitate to hop in the car and drive it cross country right now. I have included a link below that shows a cold start, walk around, and a quick drive.

I have a clear, signed off title for this vehicle. I have tried to be as honest and upfront about every detail on this car, but I am not a professional mechanic. Any potential buyer is welcome to come inspect the car in person if they choose, but this must be done BEFORE purchasing the car. Please be respectful and remember that if you choose to make an offer then you are ready to buy the car. You are not bidding for the option to buy. Buyer is responsible to arranging shipping, I can help load the car if needed. I have many additional images of the car that can be sent including more undercarriage and interior shots, please just let me know and I can email them to you. I am very sad to let this car go, but I have been furloughed from my job for some months now and simply can"t justify keeping it any longer with a pregnant wife and bills to pay. I sincerely hope this car goes to an enthusiast who will enjoy and care for this car as it deserves.
