It"s ready to drive away, needs nothing.
If you"re familiar with the legendary Volvo 240 then you already know that, if properly maintained, they literally last forever. This one is no exception. It has been meticulously maintained, getting whatever it has needed over the years, using OM/OEM/NOS parts when available and top quality aftermarket otherwise. Work records will be provided. Originally a Virginia car, I purchased it and drove it up to NY in 2003.
Everything works. The car starts immediately, idles smoothly, runs great and is a pleasure to drive. The rear coil springs have been replaced with LESJÖFORS variable rate coil springs, manufactured in Sweden specifically for the 240. They greatly improve handling & cornering without sacrificing ride quality, the car is a lot of fun to drive. The 2.3L B230F engine with Bosch multiport electronic fuel injection is peppy and delivers around 25mpg on today"s ethanol blended gasoline.
The factory blue color is an eye catcher and always draws comments. The paint (original) has great shine as you can see from the pics. The body is showing road salt blistering in a number of small areas (below windshield on both sides, driver rear wheel opening, . .). I have kept touched up and the car is still very nice. I tried to show a couple of areas in the last 2 pics. But be aware that the body is not perfect.
The blue cloth upholstery is in great condition. The car is clean inside & out.
Has rack & pinion power steering, 4 wheel power disc brakes, 4 speed automatic transmission, air conditioning (converted to 134a and blows cold), remote power door locking system, daytime running lights, front seat heaters, Volvo floor mats, class 2 hitch. And a great sounding stereo system: DUAL AM/FM/CD receiver with Volvo front door and rear deck speakers.
The 4 tires are new, put on in March 2021. Also included if you want them are a set of 4 General Altimax Artic winter tires, mounted & balanced, new for winter of 2020.
The only thing out of the ordinary is in hot weather when the transmission has warmed up, the 1st to 2nd shift occurs at a higher RPM than when cold. Easing up on the accelerator slightly will make it shift at the usual lower RPM. In cold weather it shifts normally. It"s done it since I purchased the car in 2003 with 138K miles, it has 232K now and it"s exactly the same.
