We purchased "Fillmore" from a mechanic in 2013, who purchased it from one of his elderly clients, who owned it in his family since 1996
Since 2013, the Westy has primarily been serviced by Maxed Performance in Huntington Beach, CA - a shop that specializes in Vanagons. Ed, over at Maxed, has always remarked the van is in excellent mechanical condition. Also received accolades from Top Shop in Goleta, CA another Vanagon specialty shop
California van since new. In Santa Rosa, CA (with one family and then their mechanic) from 1996 to 2013 and then in SoCal since
The good stuff: Since we"ve owned it, the Westy has always passed California smog. With flying colors New Stainless Steel Coolant Hoses - no more worrying about a busted hose leading to an overheated engine ($1,800) New Complete Exhaust System and CA catalytic converted - should be good for another 30 years ($1,000) New Wide Rims - provides excellent stability on the road and its so much easier to get high quality tires ($600) New Carpets and Laminate Flooring ($350) Many wear and tear parts have been replaced in the past 8 years Seating options expanded with optional middle row jump seat added (to seat 5) or optional bench seat (to seat 6). Both seats are included with the sale Clean California title on hand Since purchased in 2013, I"ve had oil changes done at 101,800, 104,500, 106,500 and 107,800 miles, the most recent in April 2019 Doesn"t overheat when sitting in summer traffic Over $2,000 invested in cosmetic items since 2013: New Laminate Flooring and Front carpets New GoWesty 16x7.5" rims New Front Windshield External Cover New Deluxe Car Cover High Power Headlight Kit New Sunroof Visor & Hardware Added 3rd Jump Seat New Stereo & Speakers For some of the accessories receipts, visit here: http:/ sejcek.com/Accessories.pdf
Over $6,000 invested in mechanical items since 2013: New Stainless Radiator Coolant Hoses New Complete Exhaust System w/CA Cat New Water Pump and Belts New Battery New Fuel Filter Rebuilt Idle Control Unit New O2 Sensor New Ignition Switch New Inner and Outer CV Joints and Boots For some of the mechanical receipts, visit here: http:/ sejcek.com/Mechanicalr.pdf
Previous owner/mechanic did the following at around 90K in 2012/13: Rebuilt Transmission Shocks Alternator New Fuel Hoses New Tie Rod Ends Front Upper Ball Joints New Ignition Cap and 4 new injectors New Thermostat and Fan Switch AC Converted to R134a Front and Rear Brakes/Rotors
Opportunities to make it your own and disclosures: AC system does not blow cold air - it never did for us, and we never bothered with it since we mostly camped in Spring and Fall in California Paint is faded in some areas and overall not in great shape The top canvas cover has three torn spots. It still works, but it is original Curtains are home crafted and have faded but they work and the van comes with a $170 front external windshield/front window cover Top head gaskets are seeping. Not much and not terribly, but something that should be monitored and will need to be attended to at some point Van was involved in a minor accident in 2008. The previous owner, the mechanic for the owner that was involved in the accident, said it was minor front end, left side, damage from an accident that happened at low speed in a parking lot. I"ve not noticed it but it was on the auto check report when I purchased the van
AS-IS: This van is sold AS-IS. I"ve disclosed what I know about the van, the issues I am aware of, and the work I"ve done on it. You are welcome to come by and take a look, take it for a drive, take it to your mechanic, etc.
Payment: Winning bidder must submit a non refundable deposit for $195 within 24 hours of auction end with full payment due within 3 business days of auction end.
Shipping: I can help with delivery or meeting you somewhere "in the middle" if that is helpful and you cover my gas to you and my Uber ride back.
Contact: I am available by email, phone or in person for any questions - just hit me up through and I"ll respond with contact info. I"ve bought and sold on since 1999 and have never received negative feedback or had a dispute raised against me.
