Vehicle description

* *UNICORN ALERT* * This 1987 Toyota Xtracab 4×4 Pickup SR5 is powered by a 2.4-liter 22RE inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Finished in blue over blue cloth, the truck was originally delivered to its first owner in Kentucky before spending almost two decades in Oregon before I purchased it in May 2019. Equipment includes chrome bumpers, a sliding rear window, air conditioning, a blue-tinted spray-in bedliner, and an aftermarket Sony head unit with Apple CarPlay. Maintenance conducted over the past year included an engine tuneup, an oil change, and transmission and driveline service, as well as replacement of the radiator, clutch, brake components, shocks, front-end components, transmission and differential seals, and the exhaust system. This Toyota truck is now offered with a tool bag, factory manuals, partial service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Missouri title.
The exterior was originally finished in Medium Blue (8A1) from the factory. Minor rust is evident on both rear quarter panels near the rear bumper and surface rust along the top front sections of the bed rails where a plastic bedliner was previously affixed. Plenty of pictures are available showing this - it is minor but being as transparent as possible. The metal on the bottom sides of both of the aforementioned issues looks perfect and was undercoated for further protection. At the time of the original purchase, holes were drilled into the doors, door jambs, sill plates, and the tailgate for the injection of rust-inhibiting material and plastic plugs were placed covering the holes.
Chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels wear 235/75 Goodyear Wrangler tires that show 2016 date codes. A urethane spray-in bedliner was applied during the my ownership. Work carried out in August 2019 consisted of replacing the front and rear shocks, steering stabilizer shock and links, sway-bar links, and idler arm. The braking system received a replacement master cylinder, front pads and rotors, rear shoes, rear wheel cylinders, and fresh fluid.
The cabin features blue cloth bucket seats with matching door panels, dashboard, and carpets. Air conditioning was converted to use R134a refrigerant and was recharged in August 2019. I had the windows tinted to legal Missouri percentages, installed a Sony touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay and replaced all four speakers.
A two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of factory instrumentation that includes an 8k-rpm tachometer and a 110-mph speedometer. The six-digit odometer shows 264k miles, approximately 1k of which reportedly have been added by me. Two small cracks are noted on the dashboard near the parcel indent, sale includes a blue carpeted dash pad.
The 2.4-liter 22RE inline-four features electronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 116 horsepower when new. An August 2019 service consisted of an oil change, coolant flush, and replacement of the spark plugs, PCV valve, belts, air filter, fuel filter, radiator, and the rear main seal, as well as the exhaust system. The clutch assembly and the clutch master and slave cylinders also were replaced. A compression test carried out in August 2019 reportedly yielded results of 150 psi across all cylinders. The top end of the engine is said to have been rebuilt by the previous owner and the timing chain/guides replaced approximately 5k miles ago
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Transmission and driveline work carried out less than 1k miles ago included replacement of the transmission input seal, output seal, differential pinion seals, hub gaskets, and axle seals, along with greasing the bearings and servicing the lock-out hubs. At the same time the transmission, differentials, and transfer case were serviced, and the underside had an undercoating applied.
