Vehicle description
(Re-listing because the Buyer didn"t plan on actually, you know, *paying* for the vehicle.)
I love my Land Cruiser. I love my Land Cruiser. I love it, I lorve it , I looove it. Insert 50 heart emojis. That’s how much I love it. But I have to sell it. It was an impulse ebay purchase in 2007 . I drove it home from Illinois to New Orleans and it has been the best second car ever. It is much cooler than I am. In 2014 we bought a little camp on the river in Southern Oregon and we shipped the LC out there where it has lived ever since. We’re out in Oregon maybe 3 or 4 weeks each year and because of Covid we haven’t been out there in almost 2 years. We keep it parked at the mechanic’s shop and he starts it up and drives it around occasionally, but mainly it just sits there while we pay for insurance. And when we are in Oregon it is only useful as a second car. We kayak down the river and then we use the LC to tow the Kayaks back upriver to our camp. We also use it for airport runs to Crescent City, CA about 45 minutes away. We don’t take it too far up the Forest Service roads because if it breaks down or gets stuck I don"t want to hike back 20 miles to our camp with 4 kids in tow. And that’s the kicker and the reason I am selling it. We have 4 teenagers. The LC isn’t big enough for the six of us to go anywhere comfortably. So that means the LC is only good for us as second car at our camp in Oregon. And that is bananas to try and maintain two cars at a place we visit for 3 weeks out of the year, or to rent a second car while we are there, or to drive another car all the way from New Orleans each year. It just doesn’t make sense. So as cool as that truck is, it is time to sell it. And it pains me to write this sentence but I am probably going to replace it with a minivan. Overnight I will go from a cool factor of +8 to a cool factor of approximately -26. The FJ-60? It’s dope. But do NOT expect a show car. It is beat up. It is dinged. “Where exactly are the dents,” you ask? How about, “They are on approximately every square inch of the car,” Can you take pic of the blah, blah, blah,” you ask? “Nope. I’m selling it from New Orleans and I am asking a favor of my mechanic and there is only so much effort I am going to put into this.” This is eBay, Baby, not Bring a Trailer. And I know I would get more if I had more pics or if the car was in Portland but it isn’t. The lift kit was on it when I bought it and the wheels and tires are officially sized, “big.” The spare tire comes with it and has never been used so at least one of the tires has a lot of tread. The inside is ratty. The radio doesn"t work. All of the instruments work though. The bull bars and rear bumper with the jerry can and spare tire holder were added by me over the years and they come with the car as does the roof rack. The roof is all dented in from standing up there loading kayaks. If you go more than, say, 55 mph the steering wheel is all loosey-goosey. A sharp overcorrection in steering might lead to one of those multiple roll over things like you see in TV. I strongly suggest that you do NOT do this. Better to just drive a reasonable speed. A Highway car it ain’t. Is there rust? Oh yes. It was rusty when I bought it but in the many years I have owned it the rust sitch hasn’t really gotten any worse. If you want to make it nice you will have a lot of work to do. If you just want to drive it around it is totally fine. What about the engine and tranny? They are GREAT. It’s a straight six (I know that) and I put a new transmission in it several years ago. I store it at KLB Enterprises at 97960 Lively Lane in Brookings, Oregon. Whenever anything breaks I say, “Hey Kedric, will you fix this?” and he does. So it always runs great until something breaks and then I have it fixed. I’m not, shall we say, “handy.” Once, a commenter on Bring a Trailer (and those guys really know what they are talking about) told me, “Half the fun is working on these things.” Nope. For me 100% of the fun is turning the key and driving it around until it breaks and then I have someone who knows what they are doing fix it. You are more than welcome to contact Kedric Brissette and ask him mechanic-type questions. I encourage you to do so. Check out his reviews. He is great. But fair warning…. when you email him he replies in ALL CAPS. LIKE HE IS YELLING! But he isn’t yelling. He just write in ALL CAPS and he has been doing this for years. No one can get him to turn ALL CAPS off. (Hey Kedric!). You can ask me all other questions. I really, really encourage you to check out the car in person before making a bid, but I get it if you don’t. Most of the cars I’ve bought on have been sight-unseen. The Vehicle is located in Brookings, Oregon. If you want to have it shipped home we will get it up on the truck for you. If you want to drive it home you could fly into Crescent City, CA and I can work with you to help you find someone to pick you up at the airport and give you a lift to Brookings. I can’t do it because I am in New Orleans, but I will help you find someone. And here is the obligatory language about the winning bidder being legally obligated to buy the truck. If you are the winning bidder then we have a binding contract. Your non-refundable deposit is due via within 24 hours of the close of the auction via Venmo, Zelle, or the Cash app. (Not PayPal. Sorry.) The balance is due within 7 days of the close of the auction via wire transfer or certified funds. If a Bank Check the funds must clear before you pick up the vehicle. We will hold the car for up to 30 days if you want to arrange to have it shipped. We will get it up on the trailer for you. The car is sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS with no warranty. It is an Oregon title which I have in-hand in Louisiana. Not only is it 34 years old; it is 34 years old and I am also telling you up front it is beat to hell. (I once sold a 1974 Mercedes Benz Limousine to a guy who flew into New Orleans and was planning on driving it to his home in Canada. I gave him the speech about, “You buy an old car, you buy it’s problems.” He said, “So you are telling me you don’t want me calling you if I break down in Kansas?” I said, “I don"t want you calling me if you break down in my driveway.”) There is a very low reserve. I respectfully decline to tell you what it is. God I hope I don"t regret that. Finally, Friends in Brookings: please don"t yell at me about driving in the river. Those pics were taken before we knew we weren’t allowed to drive in the river. We would never do that now but honestly it was SO MUCH FUN. Happy bidding and good luck!
