Vehicle description
I have decided to part with this 1987 Maserati Biturbo Si and am auctioning it with no reserve. This is the rarest Biturbo model ever made - the Si "Black Edition" North American Export. Only 50 of these cars were produced for North America and 25 of them were in black (or dark gray), while the remaining 25 came in various other colors like this one in light bluish-silver. The Biturbo Si Black can be distinguished by the dark gray trim around the windows and headlights, dark gray trunk lettering, and black wire mesh grille.
This car has been sitting for awhile. I bought it because of its rarity and the fact that it has the Weber-Marelli fuel injection rather than a carburetor. I was hoping to work on it but have decided to sell it as it is more of a complex project than I had originally anticipated. Pros and cons to follow. .
Things that this car will or may require, depending on how much of a restore the new owner wants to do: Tune-up Passenger"s side turbocharger Turbocharger elbows Clutch rebuild Windshield (long crack running along the top of the windshield) Some bubbling on the hood and around the windshield Rust on the underside of the hood and inside the trunk lip near the tail lights 2 rear tires (currently bald) Trunk pistons shot Hood pistons getting weak Although this car is a definite project, it is a worthwhile one for the right person. The body and paint are pretty good overall, considering these cars weren"t known for their body and hardware integrity. The interior shows some wear but is incredibly unique and sporty.
Before I began changing the wire set, I changed the one fuel filter that was leaking and after putting a little gas in, the engine turned over but did not start. Then I looked to the wire set but gave up because of how little space there is to work under this hood and the fact that it"s getting colder out now. I have a box of new parts I am including with this auction - the new wire set, NGK spark plugs, the elbow pipes for the turbochargers, a new air box gasket and straps, the second fuel filter, and two oil filters.
I have one original key for this car and a clean New York State title. Mileage is actual at 60,355. Please view the photos and feel free to ask any questions. Winning bidder must be prepared to trailer this car or have it shipped. Will accept full payment via PayPal, or otherwise cash or bank check in person.
PLEASE SEE MY OTHER LISTING FOR THE 1985 BITURBO which could be used for some parts towards this one (radio, windshield, hood and trunk pistons, etc.)
