Vehicle description
I bought this from California, where it lived most of its life in dry conditions. Since being in New England she hasn’t seen salt and has been safely kept away as I thought I would be able to Vortec-swap it and live my dreams as a free-spirited overlanding nomad listening to Fleetwood Mac on repeat and sadly that just has not been in the cards. Maybe someday. But alas.
Since it’s been in my care, it has been professionally detailed inside/out. The headliner is in impeccable condition, the seats look brand new, it’s incredibly roomy and so, so fun to drive. The metallic paint is beautiful and it turns heads wherever I go. The body has absolutely NO rust, the frame only has typical surface rust.
It is carbureted but passed California smog last year and never gave me any trouble; runs great with normal compression and typical FJ60 power. Everything works. Odometer reads 233,5xx. I daily drove it for the summer through town and never had a single issue with it.
Also done, most by PO and some here:
* Fuel tank dropped and boiled with new fuel gauge and rubbers
* New fuel pump and filters
* New battery
* Tuned up- plugs, points, condenser, vacuum lines+components
* New power steering pump
* Carburetor was rebuilt
* New fan clutch
* A-C upgraded to R-134, charged and blows cold
* New motor seals, all except rear main which never leaked
* OME 3” lift springs with greasable shackles, new shock absorbers
* New electronic brake controller/trailer brake plug with round six way plug and long three way
* Heavy duty hitch
* New catalytic converter and exhaust
* New Aussie carpet
* New dash cover
* Lighted old school compass mounted to the center console, wired to the dash panel lights
* Digital clock
* New dome lights front and back that work with opening doors/rear hatch
* New 33” inch Falcon Wild Peak Tires with a full life ahead of them
* New shifter slides
* Heavy duty cargo master roof rack
* Pioneer CD Stereo
* New front speakers + speakers mounted in back
* Original tools in original case, including motor crank
I have a replacement reservoir for the headlight washer fluid I just haven’t had the time to put in. For transparency’s sake, there is the tiniest chip in the windshield and the top layer of paint is flaking around the door handles (not because of rust, and there is no bare metal exposed). The PO miscut the carpet around the shifter and the driver’s seat has the typical side blow-out, but I spoke to an auto upholstery restorer and was told that it also wouldn’t be difficult to fix.
I adore this truck and it’s important to me it goes to someone who will love it just as much as I do and give it the time/life it deserves. FJ60s have shot up in the value over the past year or so and finding one in this condition in New England is borderline impossible; with a few more things, this would be a top value truck and is definitely an investment piece. It has a long life ahead of it, as anyone familiar with Land Cruisers knows. Can transport locally if necessary.
