This car has been fully restored from the ground up. Please note this is not a survivor car, it has been restored. Every nut, bolt and screw was gone thru over a 5 year period. I will not say this car is perfect but I will say that during the 10 years I"ve owned it and 5 years of hunting down original parts I viewed hundred upon hundreds of IROC"s a few dozen of which were convertibles and I WILL say that this is the best one I"ve seen. If there is a better one out there it is a secret.
1987 IROC-Z convertibles came in only two drivetrain configurations. One was the 305 carbureted with automatic 700r transmission and "factory" standard rear end. This car is the 305 TPI (with special cam) 5-speed T5 and Borg Warner posi disc brake rear end with 3:45 gears. This model also came with engine oil cooler and dual electric fans. No other IROC-Z convertible came with this combo of performance parts. It was only the 1987 TPI. Not 1988, not 1989, not 1990. Just the 87 TPI had this combo. And no the convertibles did NOT EVER come with a 5.7 engine.
Anyway, as I said it is not perfect but I wanted to tell you and show you everything I possibly could (both good and bad) so instead of posting 40 pictures, I made a very extensive (and long) video of the entire car. The one thing that is not in the video is the undercarriage which is just as pristine as the topside. It has all the original and proper CA smog equipment and it passed CA smog testing. Yes this is a 100% (I really mean 100%) rust free CA car. I wont go into much detail here in the description because you should view the walk around video. It has 100 times more info than I could enter here. This car is as original as I could possibly get it. This is NOT a car that you should buy and then trick out with a bunch of aftermarket mods. If you want that than buy and RS. This car is extremely rare. I believe there were well under 50 made in this drivetrain and color combo (I actually think it was closer to 25). I"ve seen two exact matches in the past 10 years.
