My loss is your gain, I purchased this 1986 VW Camper last May, my 3 rd Pop Top Camper over a 50-year period. After doing a fair amount of mechanical work I decided I have better things to do than fix the smaller details, so am selling it. According to Go Westy the 1986 is the sweet spot in VW Campers with the “increase to 2.1L engine, improved exhaust, ignition, fuel injection (Digifant), brakes, and cooling system.” My reserve is set low so do not bid unless you intend to buy. History that I know- purchased new VA Beach 1986, Porsche 16X7 wheels added 2000 at 78k miles, engine rebuilt 2001 at 88k miles, windows changed from electric to manual, dual batteries installed 2005 in Reno at 106k miles, Present mileage is questionable as speedo was broken at 117k when I purchased. My work 2020- R&R Upper Ball joints, Power steering rack and tie rods, Fuel tank, fuel lines and sending unit, Bilstein front shocks (Rear Bilsteins were still good), Speedo cable, complete overhaul shift linkage with rebuild kit, cooling system flush and replace various parts, all fluids replaced: brake, trans, antifreeze, oil, power steering fluid, injectors removed and cleaned, air filter, spark plugs, all parts from VanCafe, Ft Collins General comments- Still work to go, needs new paint job with associated bodywork, see pictures, good news is no rust. Lots of little things like the oil temp and fuel gauge still only working off and on, no windshield washer, AC not working, R&R front fan switch, engine starts and runs great, registered and fully drivable, pop top great shape looks new, haven’t tested propane, stove, sink, fridge. Missing table in rear, needs driver’s door stop, door panels and headliner reglued or replaced, GL model with swiveling captain"s chairs and arm rests, Original owner"s manual plus shop manual, see picture Feel free to ask questions
