Vehicle description
About this vehicle This 1986 Ford Mustang is an original. The owner has had it for 1 year. The vehicle is drivable and is mainly used for weekend drives. Seller"s Notes Side marker lights are not operable at this time. I can send more photos upon request of any areas. Miles may go up slightly as I drive it on short trips or weekend. Listed for sale locally and I reserve right to end auction early. Vehicle Details 1986 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 This Canyon Red Mustang is in amazing condition except for the paint. It has a Patina to it but the Georgia sun really did a job on the hood, roof and hatch. The sides still shine up nice. Good thing about the paint is its original. No paint work or body work hiding anything. It’s 35 years old and has some dents and dings. The worst spot is a dent in the driver side rear quarter area that could probably be pulled. There is a dent in the passenger fender. All glass looks good. The trim on the rear hatch is off on the bottom. I have the trim piece it just needs new clips to install. The only real rust to speak of is on the hatch. It could be fixed but I have another rust free one to go with it. It’s blue but rust free with glass intact. Rear hatch shocks were just replaced. Just replaced the headlights and replaced bulbs in running lights, and license plate lights. Emergency brake works as does the horn and directionals. The washer fluid is not connected. The underside of this car is phenomenal to say the least. K member is perfect with no drag marks or damage. Radiator support is damage free and has a recently installed stainless radiator. Torque boxes are not crushed or torn, floor pans are dry and in great condition. Aprons, strut towers, all structure and pinch welds are original and in great condition. Rockers and quarters are also in excellent condition. The interior of the car is faded in spots but in great shape for the age. The insides are not torn, mashed flat, or wore out like these were after a few years. Seats sit great, not broken or loose. Has a recent heater core and when that was done the dash pad was replaced with a new reproduction. Steering column is nice as are the door panels. Carpet is in good shape. Interior mostly just has fading. After market stereo installed and I believe only front speakers. Needing replacement is the felt trim around the windows as both sides are broken and destroyed from the sun making the windows rattle when rolled down. Rear hatch area had water at some point which appears was years ago as part of the liner under the carpet is stained and the cardboard over the spare tire. Can be seen in pictures. Look how clean the rear hatch area is and the spare tire well. Arm rest console has a tear in it. The 302 runs great. No funny noises. Just replaced the valve cover gaskets as they were leaking from the back. All gauges are working properly. The onboard computer has the light on for low fuel but the gas tank was replaced and I think the sensor must have been disconnected as the fuel gauge works as it should. Has cold air induction tube, new spark plug wires, recently installed Hurst short throw shifter. Rear end has recent 4:10 gears installed by a 30 year Ford Tech. Done right with a friction modifier, all new shims and Speedo gear to make the mph right. Some times there is a small drip of fluid on the ground from the rear end. May need a new gasket I haven’t looked into it yet. It’s lowered slightly but sits and rides great. Front cast and camber plates were put on and aligned. Full 5 lug conversion kit from CJ Pony Parts with 87-up struts and knuckles. Weld Pro-Star wheels, 15x4 in the front and 15x8 in the rear with BF Goodrich tires. Only have about 100 miles on them. New gas tank and Motorsport 155 pump. Exhaust is shorty headers with h pipe, flow masters through the stainless steel tips. Most of this work was by previous owner and I do not have paper work on it. Just removed the smog pump that was previously disconnect and bought a smog pump delete pulley and installed it. New temperature sensor and battery cables. In closing you will be hard pressed to find an unmolested 86 GT with original paint, and that has not been wrecked, rusted or totally destroyed over the years. I bought this off a guy who I believe was planning on racing with it from all the stuff that was done to it but never finished or raced it. This car with a new paint job would be a real classic. All the hard work has been done. One other issue is due to Covid I did not go to the registry myself and had my insurance agent do it. Well with my hand writing (which is terrible) the RMV thought I put mileage as 123K but it’s actually 122K. Not a big deal but the Clean and Clear Mass title has 123 and change on it but odometer has 122K and change on it. I dont drive it enough to catch the miles up at this time and just wanted to be honest. This car is 35 years old so please ask all questions before bidding. It does have wear and tear and dings and dents. Inspections are welcomed and I will make car available to whoever wants to have an inspection done. Inspections to be done prior to bidding and committing to buy. Car is sold “as is”. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due at end of auction and remainder to be paid within 3 days by cash in person, bank check or wire transfer. Thanks for your time and please ask any and all questions. I have a short driving video I can send as well. Exterior Interior Engine Download the Motors app
