Vehicle description
1986 LONDON COACH TAXI VIN recognition is set up for USA cars, this is a British import with VIN SCRUB75L1FD461823. LondonCoach vehicles were assembled in New Holland MI using glider kits provided by LTI Carbodies, Coventry and fitted with Ford’s iconic 2.3L inline 4-cylinder engines & three speed floor shift transmissions. Production of 75 vehicles was reported to NHTSA for 1985-1986. Total production before operations ceased is estimated at 80-100. This Taxi starts easily, runs well both in town and on the highway, stops well. All gauges, instruments, switches, horn and lights work. AC system is present, not belted up [wasn’t belted when I purchased the car, here in WI not much need for AC in a non-primary vehicle like this one so I never activated it, so I do not know the condition of the AC system.] Glass is good all around, all windows go up and down, new window locks were installed in2018. Other work done since purchase in 2014 includes 4 new heavy duty Taxi tires, brake drums turned, new brake shoes, new wheel cylinders & bleeder screws; transmission rear end leak repaired, rear differential leak repaired, carb gasket replaced, new electric fuel pump installed, new horn installed, new Austin Healey 3000 turn signal switch installed, new trunk handle/lock installed, Union Jack flag installed as headliner (covers original headliner – easy to remove, not permanently attached), two front seat covers, TAXI sign switch installed (TAXI sign does work),new LED back-up lights installed (originals kept shorting out & didn’t throw much light.) Frame is solid, body is solid – a few rust bubbles on fenders & shoulders. Paint is a ’12 footer’ – patchy, some sections dull. NOTE: Queen Elizabeth not included in sale. More pictures - underbody, blemishes, trunk - available by request, I can try to accommodate for other specific pictures you’d like to see. NO reserve auction, starting price is the equivalent of reserve. Deposit is non-refundable. Is listed elsewhere, may be withdrawn if sold prior to end of this auction.
