Vehicle description
Vehicle Details Solid, good running, and powerful 1985 Jeep CJ-7. This is a working man's Jeep CJ. It's not really a show Jeep. The Jeep does look good though, and it will turn some heads coming down the road. But you won't be afraid to take this rustic beast to the field, and use it for what it was made for. The body is in decent condition, but not perfect of course. It does show old dents, and old body damage. But they are sanded and painted over, and there is nothing major. The true mileage on the re-built engine, which was put in about four years ago, is unknown. I would guess the engine has around 20,000 miles on it, give or take a few hundred. Did I mention this Jeep has a lot of power? It seriously has a lot of power. It's not like a modern day corvette of course, but for a 35 year old 2 barrel carbuerated engine. . you will be amazed at it's take off power, as well as, it's ability to move on down the road. The original engine (6 cyl) was replaced with a rebuilt AMC 304 engine from a 1974 CJ-5. I also replaced the weaker T-5 (5 speed) transmission with a strong T-18 (4 speed), from the same 1974 CJ-5. The T-18 is a great transmission and has the strong granny gear. It's a solid nearly indestructible transmission. The Jeep is very stable at high speeds on the highway. You can drive it 65 MPH down a smooth highway with two fingers on the wheel. It does have power steering. It also has power brakes, though I have not been too impressed with the power brakes. It will stop OK. You just have to get used to how the power brakes work on a CJ.Most recent upgrades, maintenance or repairs (last 12 months);New carbNew DUI DistributerExhaust system/headersNew 4" suspensionNew 1" body liftNew fuel sending unitNew gaugeWindshield sealReplaced rear main sealNew paintI've had the Jeep for about 10 years. Everything on it works, turn signals, horn, lights, and I try hard to stay on top of and fix anything that breaks, as it breaks. Keeping up with the maintenance has paid off with a fun to drive, great for the ranch, pretty basic and simple, fairly easy to work on classic Jeep CJ. Parts are easy to get from many sources. It is not a daily driver for me, but it could be for you. I use the Jeep regularly for working around the farm, checking my fences, hunting down in south Texas, and on occasion, a leisurely dirt road ride with the wife and dogs. It is street legal, stays registered, and kept in my shop when not in use. I have a hard top for it, hard doors, and a bikini top. It is equipped with a modern Kenwood marine stereo, and AMP, extra LED lighting (front and rear). The 4WD works great. It has easy to use twin shifters for the 4WD. Nerf bars (welded on) make it very easy to get in and out of. For additional photos or information, email or text me. Same to check it out, see it, test drive it: text or email me to make an appointment. No trades. The title is free and clear of course. The deer skull stickers on the doors are nylon and just peel right off if you do not like them. Thanks for checking out my project. Thanks, Images Download the Motors app
