Up for sale is a 1985 Chevrolet K30 Crew Cab Dually with 75k miles on the truck. This truck has spent its 36 years residing in mild climate of California"s central valley. The truck has only had 2 owners and driven only 75k miles. The truck is powered by the original 6.2 Detroit Diesel mated to the heavy duty TH400 3 speed transmission. Being a 4 wheel drive model this rig is equipped with most ideal and heaviest duty transfer case, a New Process 205 gear driven cast iron unit; mated to the heaviest duty axles for 1985 a heavy duty Dana 60 in the front and a Dana 70 in the rear with 4.10 gears. The truck also is equipped with factory sway bars and a large heavy duty radiator. The truck runs and drives great. The TH400 shifts smooth and the Np205 transfers to 4x4 with ease. The truck has brand new 235/85/16 Mud Terrain tires.
Cosmetically the truck is in good shape. The Body is solid with no rust. The truck has been repainted a darker shade of the original Silver. The paint is over 15 years old and is not perfect but shines nicely. There are little dings and here and there as expected from a 1985 Chevy truck. The Bed is solid and straight and free of large dents and rust.
The interior is in great shape. The original blue seats have never been reupholstered and still quite vibrant, evidence of a 75k mile truck. The truck was ordered with the Silverado trim package which includes the fancier door panels which are in good shape. The dash is in good shape with no cracks. The carpet is in great shape with no rips or tears. The truck was not ordered from the factory with Air Conditioning. An early 134 conversion Air Condition unit was added.
Bottom line this truck is a rare find in this combination of options. It is a fact that the 1973-1991 crew cab body style compared to single cab long bed and short beds were simply the least produced by General Motors by a large margin. It is also a fact that most crew cabs in this era were produced as rear wheel drive trucks by a large margin compared to 4 wheel drive crew cabs. Finally it is also a fact that most of the crew cabs 2wd or 4x4s came equipped with gas V8 options vs. the diesel v8. The 6.2 Detroit Diesel was a first for GM trucks both in civilian and military applications. To find a Crew Cab Dually with factory 4 wheel drive an original 6.2 Detroit Diesel V8 is not something you see everyday; especially one with 75k miles no rust, solid floors and bed, an original interior all the heaviest duty running gear. This truck is not necessarily an easy find to duplicate, and will always be desired by collectors and enthusiasts alike more than most other squarebody trucks don"t miss out.
