Vehicle description
Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia; condition is used; in fair condition.
Van runs, could use a tune up - may need some engine work. Runs fine locally - not sure how it would fair on longer distances. It does not appear to have a temperature issue - the temp light will flicker however the temp gauge does not rise to a point of concern. Idle is off a little bit when initially firing the engine up. Seems to idle OK once the engine has warmed. Has been known to blow some blue smoke from the exhaust. Does not appear to have an exhaust leak.
Prior owner often bought/refurbished these. It was unknown what had already been done and what was yet to be done when we originally purchased. At minimum hoses/propane gas lines/inlets/outlets, good cleaning of interior, propane tank is not installed (have it though), things like that need to complete a renovation. Unknown if fridge works as propane is not hooked up. Headlights do not work, running tail lights/blinkers do. Missing radio; missing table that tucked behind driver"s seat.
Both front seats swivel
No current surface rust that we can see - previous owner likely had some body work/repainting done however.
Odometer does not work - had been stored for several years during previous owner"s restoration; driven very little by us. Current reading is 153405.
Tent canvas does have a small hole; seen in picture. Some wear and tear, but seems to be in good shape overall.
I do recommend winning bidder consider having the item towed/trailered back if not local (due to simply not knowing how well the engine will do on a long distance drive - it"s only been driven short/local distances since we"ve owned it.)
We initially purchased to dive in and complete the restoration however we"ve decided we need something a bit bigger than a Vanagon.
