Vehicle description

OVERALL DESCRIPTION: Here"s a custom Euro Style VW you don"t see often in the US. It"s a tin top with heavy duty hardware and built-in solar. It"s been converted for camping and adventure, complete with a bike rack. I"ve added aftermarket parts from Rocky Mountain Westy and a GMB Mounting system imported from Germany. The stock 1.9l engine and clutch were apparently replaced over 85k miles ago per the prior owner and it runs solid. The interior was done in gray, which compliments the plank flooring. The engine drips oil while driving and parking, but it only drips a few times then stops, which is common with VW"s. It doesn"t smoke at idle or while driving. It recently passed smog (9/30/19) so that should give you a peace of mind. It"s Turn Key and ready to roll out. Pink Slip in hand and no liens. I encourage you to contact me first via email or phone with any questions before committing to this purchase. I have done my best to describe the vehicle and highlighted some key issues below. It"s not a body-off frame restoration by any means. Please look at every photo carefully and read the details before reaching out to me. I can certainly send you more photos, or do a video walk around and start up if you are a serious buyer. The undercarriage, shocks, struts and drum brakes appear to be original. There"s surface rust on the undercarriage and some black high heated paint was used on the undercarriage and drum brakes for cosmetic reasons. Not to purposely hide any rust. One should expect surface rust on a vehicle that"s over 30 years old unless its an off-frame restoration project. The frame is solid with no rust holes or spots that would compromise the integrity of the frame or vehicle. THINGS THAT NEED ATTENTION:- There"s a slow oil drip after driving and parking the vehicle. It will typically drip 2-5 times and stop. VW"s are notorious for oil leaks. My mechanic power-washed the motor and could not locate the leak without having to inspect the heads. Sorry, I didn"t option for that.- The motor frame rattles a bit when its fully warmed up. It doesn"t do it when you first start it up. I was told that motor mounts need to be stabilized and tightened down.- The ignition switch gets a bit temperamental at time when turning the key. It actually came out of the socket once and it was secured.- The VDO volt meter (battery) is not connected and located to the left of the twin gauges (Oil and Water) that do work. - The horn flickers on from time to time. It started after the aftermarket LED headlights were installed.- The windshield wipers work, but they were disconnected because I only drove the vehicle in the Spring and Fall seasons. No A/C! - The odometer stopped working. - The roof interior came out wonky. The first two panel from the rear were flush but as I worked my way to the front, I realized the roof became narrower which explains why the panels did not come out flush like the first two. Gotta know your limitations.- The exhaust system is rusty as you can tell, but no holes or smoke. Many van owners option to swap out the stock motor for a Subaru conversion engine. It has a stock motor, so don"t expect to lead the pack.
