Vehicle description
1983 Alfa Romeo Spider. All original car. Bought this 5 years ago and have enjoyed it greatly. The car is very reliable and has never broken down on the road. I have replaced numerous components on this vehicle during the last 5 years. Here is a list of the items that have been replaced. New headlights, new radiator, new water pump, replace the valve cover gasket, installed new clutch and pressure plate, replaced all the drive line components from the transmission bracket all the way back to the rear end, replaced the motor mounts, replaced the tires, replaced front and rear brake pads, recovered the leather seats, replaced the convertible top (last year), replaced the front and rear shock absorbers (2021), did complete tune up and replaced all the electrical components including a new electronic ignition system, replaced the electronic fuel pump, aligned the front end, installed an updated stereo system and speakers, replaced the stick shift knob with a wooden replacement. The car comes with an original owners manual, a shop repair manual and many spare parts( see photos). In spite of all the work that I put into it; it still needs further repairs to make it perfect. The following are suggested repairs and are all optional. I have driven the car as is for five years without an issue. The car has passed inspection right along and has current inspection sticker. Recommended upgrades include the following: The paint has faded on the flat surfaces (hood and trunk) and could use a respray, the second gear synchro mesh is gone (very common issue with this model) but that does not interfere with shifting at all. the rear end has excessive play and the shims should be replaced, there are some rust spots that just appeared this year on the rocker panels, there are typical dings and scratches which is to be expected on a 38 year old car, the electric power windows are sketchy ( the passenger side does not work at all and the manual handle needs to be used to operate. The speedometer works but is not calibrated properly, and last but not least, the car was purchased without air condition or heat. I have some of the components but not all for the heat and AC. All of the suggested repairs can be performed at your leisure because none of them impede with safety or drivability. The car is a head turner and I get many looks and thumbs up when on the road. The light blue color makes the car. The color was only used for a couple of years and is very rare. I am starting the bid at $6000 and encourage questions and road tests if you are in the New England area. I have been very truthful with the good and bad of the car and I hope that careful review of the photos will help you decide if this is a good project vehicle for you.
