Hi there. This is my original 82 naturally aspirated diesel that has been swapped with a 1.6 turbo diesel from a 89 stock turbo diesel jetta. I bought this vanagon several years ago with the original motor blown and bought a running jetta for the swap. The jetta had 110k no. On the odo when this motor was pulled and freshened up with all new gaskets, water pump, thermo, t-belt filters, fluids exc. . . I just hit the key for the first time this past Nov and have not been able to make time to finish the ins and outs of getting it back to daily status.
IT DOES START AND RUN/MOVE/STOP but needs temp/oil pressure gauges hooked up and a new throttle cable. I have taken in up and down the road several times through the gears and it does run well but will need adjustments. She smokes just a little but I have never tried making any adjustments to the pump having no experience.
I have lost my storage and have only city parking so I have decided to sell. I bought and planned this build as a single man and being a new father, I have had little time to finish it and regretfully am now selling as a project. The clutch is new and all 4 geers shift smoothly, has a new Interstate battery, several keys. Has always started without hesitation.
The body is very honest with original paint and very little rust, what is there is superficial, just starting to bubble on a few seems and edges. This van has been stored indoors the majority of its life. Few dings. . .only notable would be top of drivers door dented, front right corner by marker light and very small dent where it looks as if someone pushed sliding door closed. . probably pop out with little effort.
Interior is in exelent shape, no tears in vinyl seats, headliner nice as are all door pannles including sliding door. I also have woodgrain camper cabinetry, z bed and kitchenette from a 82 westfalia that I planned on installing.
AGAIN, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DRIVING THIS VAN UNTIL IT HAS BEEN GONE OVER AND WILL REQUIRE TRANSPORT.
A 500.00 dollar deposit due via PayPal within 48 hrs of auction ending. Full payment due upon pickup no more than 7 buisness days of auction ending
