Vehicle description
1981 Chevy Citation X-11. There are virtually no X-11s left in existence which are this original and this low mile. This may be one of the best ones left!
This car was purchased from the original owner, who had it in indoor storage for over 20 years. It was never driven in the winter. It was completely original. Original paint, original tires, original GM floor mats, original exhaust, original vinyl GM bag for sunroof, etc. ALL ORIGINAL. This car has been completely gone through and drives great. New tires, new AC Delco ignition cap, rotor, coil, wires, plugs. New AC Delco wheel cylinders and brake lines. New AC Delco starter. Gas tank was dropped and cleaned and the very last available AC Delco NOS sock/pump strainer was found and installed. New fluids. New fuel pump. And much more. Still have the original removed parts which go with car.
According to the car"s developer, John Heinricy, the "81 4 speed is the one to have, with the HO V6 which included larger cam, larger intake and exhaust valves, higher compression, HD oil pump and large air intake with functional cowl induction. Specific transaxle ratios, auxiliary vacuum pump, (due to high lift cam), specific suspension, reinforced engine cradle, specific exhaust. It was developed to win it"s class in SCCA racing.
This one actually still has the original rubber seals to the cowl hood, which are unbelievably rare. They were deleted midyear 1981 due to CA emissions and those few that had them, almost never survived.
This car gets an unbelievable amount of attention wherever it goes. Whether it"s to the store or a stop light or a cruise night. When the secondary throttle opens on the carb and you hear air rushing through the cowl induction hood to it"s 6500 RPM redline, it will give you goosebumps.
However, the car is also 40 years old and has some imperfections. The factory lacquer paint on the fiberglass cowl hood is checking. The headliner needs repair. The rear plastics are discolored, even though the door panels and dash are perfect. The CEL flashes rapidly while the car is running. There are no codes and the car runs perfectly, so it can only be a loose connection, which I have been unable to find. Cars of this era are notorious for failed bumper fillers. This one still has all four. Two are perfect and two are presentable but cracked. I have ordered a set of 4 new 3D printed replacements. If I don"t get a chance to install them before the sale, they will go with the car.
Don"t miss this once in a lifetime chance to own such a low mile, best of the breed, original, X-11, holy grail survivor.
