L.R.A. Enterprises Auto Museum and Sales presents:
This 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was reportedly sold new in Venezuela, where it underwent a body-off refurbishment completed in 2018. The previous owning dealer imported it to the US in 2020. The truck is finished in orange with a tan soft top over a reupholstered black interior, and power is provided by a rebuilt 4.2L 2F inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. Equipment includes power-assisted steering, a power take-off winch, and aftermarket air conditioning. Additional work is said to have included rebuilds of the front disc and rear drum brakes, a suspension overhaul, servicing of both axles, and more.
The body was taken off of the frame and stripped of its previous light blue before being refinished in orange. The tan factory soft top was refitted, along with a refurbished Toyota PTO winch, side-mounted telescoping mirrors, and a swing-away rear tire carrier that allows access to the drop-down tailgate. A new black soft top is included in the sale.
Toyota 16″ steel wheels are painted black and wear chrome hub covers and 35×12.5″ Mickey Thompson tires mounted during the refurbishment. Warn locking hubs are fitted at the front, and servicing of the front and rear axles reportedly included new bearings and seals, as well as rebuilds of the front disc and rear drum brakes.
The front bucket and fold-down troopy jump seats have been upholstered in black vinyl with orange topstitching. Black rubber mats cover the floors. Additions include air conditioning from Nostalgic AC, a Tuffy Deluxe stereo console with cup holders, a locking rear compartment, and an upholstered armrest.
The three-spoke factory steering wheel frames a silver-painted instrument panel housing a 160-km/h speedometer, along with gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and voltage. The six-digit odometer indicates a little under 183k kilometers (~114k miles), though true mileage is unknown.
The 4.2L 2F inline-six is carbureted and sends power to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. According to the previous dealer, both the engine and transmission were rebuilt during the refurbishment, and a new exhaust system was fitted.
A 5″ lift kit was installed, along with Old Man Emu shocks up front and Man A Fre shackle reversal and U-bolt flip kits fore and aft. Additional photos depicting driveline, suspension, and exhaust components are provided in the gallery.
