Vehicle description
It’s been said that fewer than 200 Phillips Berlina coupes were produced between 1980 and 1983, and this one is in absolutely spectacular condition. The fiberglass body, styled in the spirit of the 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K, is in Excellent Shape! The single-tone Red paint is very elegant and presents exquisitely. Built on a contemporary, third-generation Corvette chassis, everything under the skin is easily maintained. Likewise, it’s powered by a 5.7L V-8 with an automatic transmission and dual exhausts and boasts standard Corvette amenities like power windows and power locks, power steering and power brakes, air conditioning, cruise control, power seats, and a full arsenal of gauges and leather seats. One look inside and the Corvette lineage is apparent. This one has a red interior in very nice shape. The center-split hood and exterior door hinges are charming throwbacks to a definitive age of the automobile, while the T-Top roof reminds that this is a much more modern car . During the 1970s and 1980s, a throng of small companies popped up producing retrospectively styled cars, often referred to as Neo-Classics, using modern vehicles as the starting point. Unique and popular, none of them sold all that well, but of them, the Phillips Berlina coupe is seemingly one of the better efforts of the era. The fiberglass was just as good as any Corvette would use, the gentle, flowing shapes closely resembled the real Mercedes-Benz it was emulating, and they had a natural, factory-built look and feel to them compared to so many other retrospectives. Nicely too, except for some accessory wood trim, the interiors were left stock Corvette, adding to the factory quality. Rolling on wide whitewall tires and chrome wire wheels, this car will prove a lot of fun, a great driving experience and a rare sight to boot. I have owned many Kits/Neo-classics from the smaller Gazelles to triple digit Clenets and Cobras. This one ranks very high on the quality and look of the build. Drives straight as an arrow, would not hesitate to drive this across the country and back. Only 22k original miles! There are currently two other Berlina"s for sale in the USA and they are both over $33,000. I am located in Franklin Park IL, and can help with shipping and what not. I have a friend who owns a transport company and would gladly get you a quote! A $500 non refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of purchase. I have no issue selling the car overseas either! Give me a call if you have any questions! Thanks.
