1981 Delorean DMC-12 VIN #2260VIN #2260 was delivered to John Hine Delorean of San Diego, California in July of 1981 and was used as a dealer demonstrator by the owner’s son. It was painted red and a lower body stripe added in January of 1982 (along with 3 other Delorean’s). It was purchased in March of 1982 and was registered until 1996, it then sat undriven until 2017 when it was purchased from the original owner’s son-in-law. It’s the 1760th Delorean built and is 100% original as it was delivered with the exception of the work completed below. It did have an OEM Delorean rear power antenna installed at some point before 1996. It still retains its original 4 halogen headlight bulbs and 2 sets of 2 keys (door and ignition). The original window sticker, dealer add-on window sticker for the paint and stripe, dealer demonstrator warranty card, owner’s manual packet with warranty pamphlets are all included as well as a reprint of the window sticker and certificate of authenticity from the Delorean Museum. PDI sheet, odometer statement, original California pink slip, registrations from new and California license plates are included. It runs, drives, stops, handles great and overall is in excellent all original condition. The paint has had a full paint correction performed and the interior is 100% original with the exception of the door headliner panels. The A/C was serviced staying with R12, blows very cold and functions as it should. The Craig radio still works and sounds good (did not test the tape deck) and everything else works as it should. As with any 39 year old car, it’s not perfect and there are blemishes and other items that show its age. I strongly recommend that you come see the car in person or I’d be glad to discuss the car further and provide video and full details of the car. The car is sold as is where is with no warranty implied. A deposit of $1000 is due immediately after the auction ends and full payment is due within 72 hours unless other arrangements have been made prior to the auction ending. Car is sold with a Bill of Sale only as Connecticut does not issue titles for cars over 20 years old.
