Vehicle description
This was an exciting find. It is a totally original and low mile VW Rabbit Cabriolet. It is a very rare first year model with the desirable fabric interior. It is a very lightly optioned car with crank windows, heat/defrost, AM/FM stereo with tape (original factory radio), adjustable seats and manual convertible top (original with factory boot).
In 1980,VW introduced the drop top variant of the Rabbit calling it simply the Rabbit Cabriolet. Shortly after, VW would drop the "Rabbit moniker for the convertible calling it simply "Cabriolet".
This is a middle of the first production year car and when new went to a garaged home in Pennsylvania where it stayed for years. It went to its second owner in the same town and now is being offered for sale. The car is an incredibly well cared for original with original paint, trim, interior, top and drivetrain.
The paint is really nice with good shine and a nice look to it. The interior is also excellent with all original materials, no cracks in the dash and no tears in the original seats. Everything works including all instruments, clock, heat, defrost, etc. All of the lights, blinkers, flashers and such work as well.
The car was given a full tune up earlier this year and anything that needed attention got it. It got a new battery, fluids were changed, brakes were inspected, radiator flushed, etc. The car needs nothing to be enjoyed now.
It has its original radio in the dash, original owners manual with supplements in the glove box and original spare tire properly stowed in the trunk alongside the jack equipment.
The top is original and probably the only thing that might need attention. It has a few age cracks in it (worst of it shown in the images) but is easy to put up and down, it is manual.
The car is a factory five speed. It starts smoothly, the engine runs quietly and the clutch and transmission are excellent. The E-Brake works perfectly and the windows crank down smoothly and effortlessly. the Rabbit has all of its original glass as well.
Finally the underside is also clean and has absolutely no rust or rust repair.
I have many more pictures for any interested party and am happy to email them. I will consider offers at any time and am happy to add a buy it now if we agree on a price. For now, I am listing it as a no reserve auction and the car will sell this go "round.
Whomever buys this will enjoy it. It is inexpensive, fully serviced, economical to operate and super reliable. Please feel free to call me if you would like to discuss or click the "contact seller" link here on eBay. 860-883-3998.
Thanks a ton and good luck bidding!
