Vehicle description
The 1980 Indy Pace Car Replica was the showroom approximation of the Trans-Am that paced the Indy Racers that year at the brickyard. The body was white, with charcoal and red accents, and had black, gray and red hood bird peculiar to the Pace Car replica. The dashboard had a turboboost gauge that featured turbo boost indicator lights, and an asymmetrical hump to allow for more room the turbo. The car also came with quartz halogen headlamps, a cassette instead of the old-fashioned 8-track, oyster colored seats, silver tinted roof hatches and 10th anniversary-styled “airflow”wheels, now painted white. The 301 cubic-inch turbo V-8 was rated at 210 horsepower. Just 5,700 Pontiac Special Edition Turbo Trans Am Indy 500 Pace Cars were built. This particular car was owned by a gentleman namedGregory Dixon, who bought the car in 1980. I have the original Vehicle registration documentation for every year from 1980 until 1997. I assume this is when he stopped driving it semi-regularly. He was the only other owner of the car and kept it in a garage in mint condition until I bought the vehicle a couple years back from one of his children who didn’t want it. When I found the car online, I could not believe my eyes. This was an entirely original pace car. Everything on the car is original: From the interior to the paint to the wheels. The car has some minor cosmetic issues: Adjacent to the back seat (some leather has come lose). There is some very slight marbling in the paintwork and cracking in the paintwork under the gas cap at the back of the car. These slight cosmetic issues can only be seen if you are looking really hard for them. The cars antenna is disconnected due to malfunctions. (I am told the replacement part for the antenna is under $200.) I would buy the part but bought the car for $36,000 and am trying to mitigate my cost basis any further. I have all of the original documentation from the beginning of this car’s inception, including: The original user manuals, buyers’ guides, purchase receipts and invoices from when Gregory bought the car in 1980. They have been laminated as a testament to the value of this collectible’s originality. The car will also come with extra decals and Firebird badges. I am very sad to see this car go. A true collectors’ car. Video below. Call me at (214) 998 5924 with any questions about the vehicle. YouTube Video will open in a new window
