Vehicle description
I had this car listed two weeks ago. It sold but due to unforeseen circumstances on the buyers end we were unable to complete the transaction. That is the only reason that the sale was cancelled. With that being said it is back up for sale. You are viewing a very nice 1929 Ford Shay super deluxe rumble seat roadster. Titled as a 1980 Ford, clear title. I have owned another Shay and looked at quite a few and this is a nice one. The original gel coat finish is in great shape. The trunk rack could use a good polishing and one of the wood slats replaced. The car is equipped with a C4 automatic and is a much nicer car to drive then the manual models. There is room to put your left foot and stretch your leg without the clutch pedal there and the floor shifter, being shorter, allows more room for your right leg. (I"m 6"2" and it is comfortable). I drove the car home 135 miles after purchase and the trip went off without a hitch, ran great. I replaced a failing alternator, voltage regulator and installed a new battery. Replaced a leaking carburetor accelerator pump and adjusted the carburetor and timing, installed a new transmission vacuum modulator (seeping) and that was it. There are no leaks from anything, car is dry underneath. Car is believed to have been built and sold to the California market as it has additional smog controls from others I"ve seen (they all work) and also evidenced by the under hood decal. It has the optional chrome spoke wheels and excellent tires. The top is excellent but missing the door side curtains. I have a nice set in the original long grain vinyl from another Shay I owned that I will include if we agree on a price. Very easy car to upgrade to more of a street rod look with drop spindles, rear lowering blocks and a set of fox body wheels of your choice. More modern tires allows highway speeds with ease. The car is priced lower then most for sale and I am open to realistic offers. Thanks for looking, any questions, just ask.
