Vehicle description
As perfect a late model MGB as one can imagine. . . .look at photos to show the "mirror image" (and very expensive) bare metal repaint. And black shows every flaw. Which this car does not have.
Excellent chassis and floor pans, excellent fit and finish throughout. And no plastic filler.
Engine has covered less than 2,000 miles since a complete rebuild, fitted with a new 32/36 DGV Weber carb, improved manifolds, power assist disc brakes, wood dashboard and steering wheel, carpeted trunk, new stereo/CD, spotless engine bay, excellent wiring, 70-75 psi oil pressure when warm, 140-145 psi compression in every cylinder, zero smoke, excellent synchromesh, brakes work well, what else is left?
Personally, I was never particularly fond of the rubber bumper cars due to the garish mix of a bright body color and big black bumpers. However, the black paint on this car has a nice harmony with the black bumpers and I think it actually looks pretty good. And w hile the new chrome wire wheels are bolt on, they look great, enhance the car"s looks, and are zero maintenance due to the short spokes.
AND. . . .these later model cars have a lot of advantages over the earlier cars. . .power assist for the disc brakes, front and rear sway bars (for improved handling), improved cooling and electrical systems, bigger gauges, better controls, and generally speaking, more chance of having been originally purchased by an older buyer who may very well have purchased this car as a second or third car from brand new. In many ways, they seem like 35% Nissan, Toyota, Honda and 65% classic British car. Not bad. And unlike early MGBs, these later cars had to meet all applicable DOT regulations for safety.
It starts instantly, runs flawlessly, the new Weber carb adds substantially to performance without hurting fuel economy, ride is first rate and better than a lot of modern cars (with stiff, low profile tires), its quiet, refined, and hard to believe it is nearly forty years old. Heater works well (and has a more powerful 2 speed blower) and I wouldn"t have any qualms about driving this car anywhere. Even in cold or wet weather.
I have been having problems with responses and would prefer a phone call, 9-5 weekdays at 203-377-6746. I have tried my best to accurately represent this car, it really does look as good as in the photos, and this MG should provide a lot of fun motoring for very many years. My terms are 20% deposit within 48 hours of the sale and full payment within 7 days. As the car is available for immediate sale, I reserve the right to end this auction at any time and for any reason.
I can deliver the car within a say, 300 mile radius, can assist in shipping anywhere and can also store the car until a new owner is ready to take delivery.
