Vehicle description
1979 Plymouth Volare 2-Door Coupe—For Sale- $4,500 I purchased this car as a project in early 2016 when it had about 118,000 miles. Car runs great and starts easily when used regularly. Handling is solid. Before I purchased the car, someone had converted it to a Super Six car using a self-engineered kickdown lever which works fine.
Engine: 123,700 miles (believed to be original) Slant Six/225 with 2-barrel “Super Six” conversion—Holley 2280 carb 3-Speed automatic transmission Air conditioning (not presently connected or charged) Fuel line re-routed direct to carb; OSAC bypassed Electronic choke added Single exhaust; catalytic converter has been removed Brakes work well; pedal is firm; no squeaks No issues with battery or alternator
Exterior: Original ralleye wheels Tires have good life remaining Original PB5 Cadet Blue; has been re-painted in very close color Mostly clean; some rust bubbles have formed Roof professionally re-painted in summer 2017 Trim all intact and in good condition Vinyl roof in good condition Body and frame very straight; a few door dings Front and mid floor pans were professionally replaced in spring 2016 after which floor was treated with Eastwood rust encapsulator and then seam sealed New floor pans were further treated underneath with Eastwood undercoating
Interior: Black bucket seats (originally a bench seat car) from a 1976-77 F-body Driver’s seat professionally repaired in summer 2017; passenger seat in good condition. Seat tracks cleaned and repainted 2016 Matching rear seats; one small run in bottom. Center console mounted with correct bracket welded in. Has nice flat cover. Upgraded blue 3-spoke steering wheel New weather stripping (roof rail and door) New carpet in 2016 (ACC with mass backing) Interior covered with B-Quiet sound insulation (excepting doors) AM/FM radio (not original, but consistent with original style) Pioneer speakers: 3” in front; old school 3-ways in back Interior carefully re-painted in 2016—no major drips or runs A-Column interior trim is decent; has been re-finished once All heater vacuum control pods working; heater door cable works well Heater control box retrofitted with chrome buttons Blue LED speedometer lights Opera window trim was replaced with chrome door edging Gauges work well
