Vehicle description
We are selling this beautiful 1979 Mercury Marquis Brougham that has been in my family since new. My parents bought the car from Kenneth Hammersley Lincoln-Mercury in Lynchburg, VA. It is in very nice condition and has always been well maintained. It has been driven very little for the past several years. It has a 351 Windsor engine with a 2V carb and an automatic transmission. The full size spare tire has never been on the ground. As the Brougham model, this one has all the bells and whistles offered in 1979 including: cornering lights, power seat, power antenna, three cigarette lighters and four ashtrays, wide rocker chrome trim, premium sound system, remote trunk release, and body side moulding. It has never been in an accident but has had a couple of repaints. It has full dual exhaust and a new battery.
The production numbers of these in the two-door version with the larger engine were very low. Most of these old Mercurys were equipped with the 302 V8. It will need a few TLC items commensurate with age such as a the tires show some weather checking and it could use valve cover gaskets. The most it needs is to be taken out and driven. This car managed to get around 20-22 mpg on the highway back when we were driving it daily. Bidders with no feedback please contact me prior to bidding. Winning bidder to submit $200 non-refundable deposit at end of auction. Vehicle must be payed for and picked up within 2 weeks unless other arrangements are made.
