1979 MAZDA RX-7 ROTARY COUPE THIS EXTREMLEY WELL CARED FOR AND MAINTAINED RX-7 WAS BOUGHT AND STILL OWNED BY ITS ORIGINAL OWNER ! THE CAR WAS SOLD NEW BY A LOCAL MAZDA DEALER ( NUCAR MAZDA IN NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE ) WHICH IS STILL ONE OF DELAWARE’S LARGEST MAZDA DEALERS. THE CAR WAS ALWAYS GARAGED AND MOSTLY ENJOYED ON WEATHER APPROPRIATE DAYS. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN MECHANICALLY MAINTAINED BY EITHER DEALER OR LOCAL GARAGE. PAINT IS ORIGINAL AND STILL SHOWS VERY WELL OUTSIDE OF SOME MINOR ROAD CHIPS. NO SIGNS OF ANY ACCIDENTS OR BODY REPAIR. EXCELLENT BODY GAPS, OPENING / CLOSING OF DOORS, REAR HATCH AND HOOD. VERY NICE TRIM, GLASS AND BRIGHTWORK. COUPLE OF TINY AREAS OF RUST BUBBLING AND MINOR RUST DEVELOPING ON LOWER PASSENGER SIDE REAR QUARTER PANEL. SUPER SOLID FLOORS, TRUNK PAN AND FIREWALL. INTERIOR IS JUST AS IMPRESSIVE ! NO SIGNS OF ABUSE, NEGLECT OR EVER BEING SMOKED IN. EXCELLENT DASHPAD, CARPET, DOOR PANELS AND HEADLINER. WORKING GAUGES INCLUDING TACH. WORKING POP-UP HEADLIGHTS, HORN, SIGNS, LIGHTS AND WIPERS. THE OWNER TRIED THROUGH THE YEARS TRIED TO REPLACE / FIX THE FACTORY RADIO WITH NO LUCK, IN DOING SO HE MAY BLEW THE FUSE THAT CONTROLS THE HVAC CONTROLS ? THE OWNER ALSO REMOVED THE FACTORY SEATS AND PUT IN A NICE SET OF AFTERMARKET SEATS- WE REINSTALLED THE FACTORY PLAID SEATS, THE AFTERMARKET SEATS DO COME WITH THE CAR. THE WANKEL ROTARY ENGINE (12A) STARTS RIGHT UP AND SETTLES TO SMOOTH, SMOKE-FREE IDLE. THE OWNER DECIDED SOME YEARS AGO TO UPGRADE THE IGNITION FOR DRIVABILITY. ORIGINAL IGNITION COMES WITH THE CAR. THE ORIGINAL RADIATOR DOES HAVE A SMALL LEAK, CAR COMES WITH A NEW RADIATOR- CAN HAVE INSTALLED FOR NEW OWNER OR JUST COME WITH THE CAR. RECENT CLUTCH REPLACED. SMOOTH, SOLID SHIFTS WITH EASY GEAR ENGAGEMNET. EXCELLENT BRAKES AND BRAKE PRESSURE. TIRES HAVE EXCELLENT TREAD, BUT ARE OLDER AND SHOW SIGNS OF AGE. WHEELS ARE IN GREAT SHAPE. IF YOU HAVE BEEN CURIOUS ABOUT GETTING INTO A SOLID JAPANESE CLASSIC, THAT CAN BE DRIVEN ANYWHERE… THIS IS YOUR CAR ! I PERSONALLY DROVE THE CAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND STOP AND GO TRAFFIC- I CAN’T REMEMBER DRIVING A CAR OF THIS AGE, THAT’S THIS FUN, RELIABLE AND OVERALL SOLID !
