Up for bid is arguably the most rare 1979 Ford F-250 4x4 pickup truck ever built as it is the only one ever ordered with these paint and trim codes. 1979 was the last year for the iconic Dentside body style and in fact original 40 year old heavy duty 4x4 vehicle are becoming RARE as the term rare refers to things that are uncommon or scarce this example is better described as being uncommon this example is better described as unique which is something that is (not Comparable) being the only one of it"s kind" unequaled , unparalleled or unmatched and from a collector stand point having the only one ever made is typically more desirable. This truck was a special dealer ordered on January 12th 1979 DSO#76 from the Denver Sales Office by Owens Ford in Winnemucca, NV the way you see it here and was built 9 days ahead of schedule at the Ford plant in San Jose,CA on January 31, 1979. There were roughly 888,709 F series trucks build by Ford in 1979, of that figure roughly 190,000 of those were built as F-250s. This truck is the ONLY one of those trucks built as factory 4x4 with the Explorer trim package in Coral paint. Yes, this truck is a 1 of 1 truck special ordered in 1979, you will not find another 1979 Ford F250 4x4 with Coral paint and an Explorer package.

This 79 Ford gets lots of thumbs up as the bright redish orange Coral paint really stands out. The original paint is rich and looks good and shiny, Coral is an interesting color which takes on different tones in depending on the light. While this truck is a looker, it is a 40 year old 4 wheel drive truck with a less than perfect body. What you see is what you get, there are dents, dings, scratches. The rust in the body is the 2 small holes behind both rear wheels. The cab does not have rust, all the floors are solid. The Chrome is in good shape. The grille is in good shape.
Step inside this Ford and the interior is in decent original shape. The Explorer package comes with a unique plaid designed seat which is in good shape except for the tear on the drivers side. The dash is original and has the original radio. The Explorer package also comes complete with a headliner which is in great shape. The original carpet is for the most part in good shape except for a few areas on the drivers side. There is 2 gun racks with racks for 6 rifles. Overall the interior is in good shape for being 40 years old, nothing is missing and everything is original.
Mechanically this truck is solid. The 351cid V8 fires up and runs good. It is the original motor which has been rebuilt once in its life. The clutch is good and the truck shifts smooth in all gears. The brakes stop as the should. Overall the truck is in good mechanical condition, it is original and has been maintained, but is a 40 year original truck and should be treated that way. The tires are usable but should be replaced.
