Vehicle description
1979 DODGE D200 ADVENTURER CREW CAB LONGBED A/C AUTO
This is a cool survivor dodge crew cab. It would be a cool truck to use as-is, or do a 4x4 cummins conversion. Rust free truck with adventurer option and optional HC3 stripe package. I have not been able to find a picture of another truck with this stripe option. The build sheet, owners manual, and several other original documents are included. I have many more pics I can send in a dropbox file including pics of the floors from underneath. I can help arrange shipping if needed. Feel free to ask questions. Clear title in my name. Thanks.
MECHANICAL
This pickup has the 4-barrel 360 V8 and automatic transmission. The motor is completely stock. The carb even looks like original dodge equipment. The engine runs nice. The choke needs to be adjusted better and cleaned. I"m sure it wouldn"t hurt to rebuild the carb. I would also recommend a complete tuneup and fluids changed. It hasn"t been a driver for a number of years. No ticks or knocks. It does not smoke at all. No blowby. Oil looks fine. No water in the oil or oil in the water. It runs cool and the temperature gauge works. Not sure if the fuel gauge or speedometer work. Volt meter works. The fuel tank was emptied before running it. The brakes work but the drivers rear brake is stick. I would check out the brakes completely also. It has what is probably the original exhaust and the tailpipe has rusted off. New valve cover gaskets. The transmission works and shifts fine. I have only driven the truck on my driveway enough to see that all the gears work. It feels like it needs shocks for sure. The tires are 16.5 and probably the original wheels. The tires need replaced and I"m sure most of you will want to switch to 16" or another size. They still make 16.5 tires I believe if you want to keep it all original. This has factory A/C. There is still pressure in the system but the pump does not engage when you turn the ac on, so I think it needs converted to R134 and charged. The headlights only work on dim so it either needs a new dimmer switch or both headlight bulbs need replaced. The turn signals don"t work. Turn signals and brake lights work. It needs a new heater fan switch. The fan works though when you turn on the selector. The truck needs some maintenance and new tires but has no major mechanical problems.
BODY
The body is in nice shape for an unrestored "79. There is no rust except surface pitting on the front floor pans. The carpet was removed to inspect it more thoroughly and for pics. The was not original. The rear carpet is in place but the whole carpet needs replaced. The sill plates were gone when I got it but the previous owner is looking for them. New replacements are readily available. There are a couple dents in the body but nothing too major. The pics tell the story. The floors, floor supports, cab corners, frame, etc. are fine. All doors open/shut as they should. Hood and tailgate do also. Glass is all good. Windows roll up/down but should be lubed. I have undercarriage pics also. Ebay only allows 24 pics and I"m not good enough with computers to figure out how to post more but I have a dropbox link I can send.
INTERIOR
The interior isn"t perfect but pretty nice and clean for an unrestored "79. It really only needs a carpet unless your doing a high end restoration. Drivers seat has a little extra wear on the drivers side. Passengers seat, door panels, dash, and visors in good shape. I would just put a new carpet or floormat in it and use it as-is, but you can decide how you want to do it. original radio still in place but doesn"t seem to work. Gas pedal is included. One of the little studs that holds it in place is broke off. You can drive it anyways but it"s an easy fix.
OVERALL
This is a cool truck to restore or do a little work and use as-is. It would be awesome if converted to a 4x4 and 12 valve. I don"t know if the price is high or not but I know trucks like this restored to original or restored/customized are bringing big money at auctions. You can have a classic that you can fit the whole family in and work and play with. The truck is used and sold as-is. Thanks.
