ENGINE RUNS POORLY, PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING!
You are looking at a 1979 Phaeton, signified by the factory installed simulated convertible top, not a convertible. It has special Phaeton script and this car is finished in Slate Firemist with black top, one of three color combinations. Cadillac made this edition in 1978 and 1979 and most were coupes, making this example even more rare to find.
This is a fairly clean, good looking car, with a few minor cosmetic flaws, such as an imperfection on the rear bumper, where there is some silver tape over a small rust spot. The interior is really nice, door panels, dash, headliner, carpet and seats are in really nice condition. Glass is good, everything works including cold air conditioning. I do not know if the cruise control works and the clock is not working. Power trunk release and power pull down work properly.
I have owned this car for about a year. We have driven it only about 120 miles. It actually drove very well, with good steering and braking, transmission shifts as it should and it was a nice driver. However, the engine ran a little rough when I bought the car, but it got worse.
THE BAD The engine runs, but it will need repair. I have been told by one mechanic that it should be rebuilt, or replaced. You will NOT be able to drive this car home, you will probably have to truck it home, as it is not dependable. I want to be clear, I do not know what this engine will need, consider it a BAD ENGINE, period. I do not want any misunderstandings here, I am being very straight forward about it, I do not want to mince words. The motor is bad, it needs major repairs, you will not drive this car home. Please do not think it is a minor repair, it is not.
