Vehicle description
Hi, I have a 1978 VW Scirocco up for sale. Not many of these 1st generation MK1 Scirocco"s left. The car drove excellent up until last fall. I diagnosed the problem to be a bad fuel pump. I started the car once by spraying starter fluid in the throttle body and engine started, ran for a couple seconds then turned off. The car shows 86k miles on the odometer and I was told by the previous owner these are the original miles, I however cannot guarantee that due to the age of the vehicle. The car would make a good driver as is. It ran great prior to fuel pump failure. This car would be a great candidate for restoration. The body is very straight, all the panels line up perfectly and it"s not completely rotted, it does have some surface rust in various places. The interior is pretty clean, the front seats were replaced at some point with period correct recaro style seats. There is a small steering wheel which was installed at some point. The car also has an aftermarket stereo system that was probably put in 10+ years ago. It appears there was body work done to the right side door and it is now cracking/peeling, the door would need to be stripped, repaired and painted. The timing belt was replaced last year along with some other maintenance items. The car also has 4 new tires. The shift linkage and bushings (kit) would need to be replaced, it’s very loose and a bit difficult to differentiate reverse from 1st, still drivable though. All the rubber seals/trim appear to be dry rotted and started to crack, not horrible I’m just trying to disclose as much as I can. Overall the car is pretty nice for being 40 years old. If I don’t get a decent price I will keep it as a conversation piece in my yard rather then sell it for peanuts. I am a very busy person so please Do not waste my time if you"re not ready to buy! I have set a very reasonable reserve. Please TEXT me if you have any questions 917-841-6777. I Will not release car without cash in hand.
