Vehicle description
1978Porsche 911SC Targa (Convertible) VIN9118311123 NO RESERVE
You are bidding on a Solid Southern 1978 Porsche 911SC Euro Spec Convertible. This is a Row (rest-of-world) Car with more power than the U.S. Spec Cars. It has 3.0 Euro engine with 5speed manual transmission, and it still even has its smog Pump hooked up! No major leaks. No smoke. The car started off life as a Targa and was converted into a manually operated Convertible. The car odometer shows 107,000miles. The car comes with The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity which is not very helpful because it doesn"t show engine or transmission numbers, so numbers matching cannot be verified. The Porsche had been sitting for19 years in a container in Georgia before I bought it. It does run and drive well. When cold, the engine starts right up but needs a couple of minutes to warm up to running temperature. The clutch is good and the tranny shifts fine. I have only driven the car probably 200 miles. It needs driven. The car has been repainted many years ago and is showing its age. It has peeling paint that has been touched up. It is not rust. It is a bad paint job that didn"t have proper prep done before painting. I think it needs a paint job. There are also some small dents and dings. The convertible top is new. The seats are recently recovered in black vinyl. The dash is nice. The car is very solid and shows no signs of any rust or crash damage. This would be a great car to drive as it is, or restore.
I bought the car 4 years ago from a dealer in Tennessee. The reason I wanted it was for it"s drivetrain. The 3.0 liter engine was to be a spare for my track car. The engine number 6383171 indicates it is a ROW (rest-of-world) engine which indicates better power and torque than the American market counterpart.
I ended up just storing the car in my warehouse since purchasing it and taking it out for the occasional drive. When not driven, it has been started and run once a month to keep it lubricated. I have a Clear Title in my name, and the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity for the car. The car is selling with NORESERVE.
In fairness to all, I will not end the auction early, I do not have a buy-it-now price, and there is absolutely no reserve . The high bidder will own this car! Please have all your ducks in a row before bidding on this car. It is rare to find a running Porsche for sale with no reserve.
