Vehicle description

This little guy always put a big grin on my face until a truck backed into the nose, damaging the hood and both headlights. He sped off and I was left with another project that as you can see, I have not gotten to. It"s time for someone else to have a bit of fun.
You can restore this car if you like, or you can drive it like a Rat Rod. It runs well, but does not pass California emissions - high HC - possibly plugs, wires, etc. I never cared enough to sort it all out. .I just paid the fees and drove it anyway. Fees may be a problem in California, but not in other states.
The title is clean, but it"s being sold AS IS FOR PARTS. The original blue hood is available if desired, complete with the flat spot left by the truck. I didn"t even think of mileage, though it"s just a number on the dash. .which I forgot to take a picture of. All gauges appear to work, including the electric clock. The battery has gone flat and is presumed dead. Starts with jumper cables.
On the exterior, one tail light has a section rusted through, both headlights need a bit of work, one fender has bondo that has cracked - from some incident before I owned it. A warehouse crew moved the car with a forklift and pushed the catalytic converter up an inch or so into the passenger floor, but I"m guessing that"s not a big deal. .put the top down and jump on the floor till it"s flat again. Speaking of the top - the rear window is shot, as is the front seal, but the main fabric is in good condition. I bought some clear vinyl and vinyl cement, but no time to cut the old window out and make a new one.
The entire drive train functions as new. The engine pulls strong to redline in all gears well into the illegal speeds. The brakes are good enough, but are getting a bit spongy - new master cylinder and pads are in the trunk. I never replaced them because they do stop just fine. Steering, shocks, springs, are all good. Tires are older but in balance.
A few years back, the color of the little tag on the license plate for the year of registration was the same as what"s on the car, so I drove it all over the place, for hours at a time on all the freeways between here and the central valley. Today, when we took it out of storage to take pictures and drive it around the block, it ran just the same as before, and that big grin came back like before. It"s in good condition as a daily driver, and with a little work, it could be a very enviable Italian sports car with an engine designed by one of the guys from Ferrari, a body designed and built by Pininfarina, and grace and balance that"s rare in sports cars today. I"ve always thought of the Fiat 124 Spider as one of the great timeless designs of all time. .a classic beauty.
Somewhere, I have (or can make again) a video of the car going through the gears, but I wouldn"t know how to post it here. I guess YouTube or something like that would work.
We will be happy to help load this for transport. .it"s not our first rodeo - we will send plenty of photos once loaded for transport to help in case there"s damage on the way.
