Vehicle description
1978 Dodge Magnum XE The Dodge Magnum was offered for only three years and wasdesigned to be used by Richard Petty in NASCAR. Petty was racing a 1974 Dodge Chargers but did not like the 1975 and updesign. In an effort to keep him racingMOPAR, Dodge designed the Magnum which had a sportier look. Petty used them one season and then switchedto Pontiac, so although a cool reason for this car to be introduced, it didn’t workout for Dodge. I had been looking for a clean Magnum for a while (on my car bucket list) and foundthis one in Arizona. Although I cannotverify the story, the car supposedly sat in the original owner’s carport for many years and accumulated only17k miles when it was sold at an estate sale. The gentleman that bought it “restored” the car due to the AZ sunbeating it from the side of the carport for 30 years. It got new front seat upholstery, new paintand a new vinyl top. Of course also newtires, brakes, AC, fuel system etc, etc. He then drove it for 5 years and racked up another 5k miles. When he passed it was sold again at an estatesale and I now own it. So, it shows 21koriginal miles on the title, and based on how original the engine compartmentis, I believe it. The body is super solid with no rust. The paint job looks beautiful but I have foundsome flaws. The chrome is in great condition. It is a beautiful car that presents itselfvery well. The interior is alsonice. It has no cracks in the dash and the white and red is stunning. The 360 V-8 purrs and the automatic shifts beautiful throughthe gears. It handles and brakes nicelyand I would trust driving this car anywhere. It does take a little while to warm up (stalls) , but once she is warmit just cruises. The AC was repaired and blows cool – I have a feeling it isnot super cold due to the temperature switch not moving all the cables. It was cold until I turned it to heat oneday. Should be an easy fix. It has power windows. The passenger side is finicky – sometimes it works great while othertimes it won’t go down. I am guessing a connectionis loose but have not had time to fix. Thedriver’s side is fine. The headlight covers lift up when the headlights are turnedon – so cool. This is an amazing car for money. The only reason I am selling is that I havebought too many cars and I am out of garage space. I hope this car goes to someone who canappreciate the condition and enjoy it being unusual. You will have the only one at a car show orcruise night! Thanks for looking - please only bid if you seriously plan on buying. If you would like to call me to discuss, email me your contact info and ill be glad to call you and tell you more about the car.
