Vehicle description
Nearly all miles (about 17K) were accumulated from 1977 to 1979, after which the car was stored, poorly. It was sold as part of the original owner"s estate sale in 2009 when I acquired it. The paint was heavily oxidized, though absolutely zero rust damage occurred anywhere, and a very proper and thorough mechanical and cosmetic refresh has been completed. It is beautiful, reliable, and ready to drive anywhere, any time. The body was disassembled, front clip completely apart, all glass out, all lighting, trim and such removed, and stripped to metal in preparation for a quality repaint in its original Dark Cordovan Metallic. Bright work has all been polished, many parts replaced with NOS or NOS-quality. Undercarriage was cleaned, sanded, and brush painted with POR-15; not concourse correct (that would mean a LOT of bare steel). All will be black, clean, shiny, and serviceable for a very long time, instead. Floors are all perfect and were left original, untouched. It all looks great together. The slick top treatment is not original to the car, but is created here with only factory OEM parts. The only difference from a factory vinyl delete car is the rear glass molding treatment. The originals have a body-color keyed tape along their outer edges. I chose to remove this and have the moldings de-anodized, then the bare aluminum polished to a high level for a more broad all-metal look (see close-up taken during reassembly). I"d have done all the anodized trim this way but was/is too nice already. The interior was completely removed and cleaned, with high density floor padding/insulation added from toes to the package tray. Power windows with optional mini-vents and seat mechanisms were thoroughly cleaned and re-lubricated. Original floor mats are present and excellent. There are very few signs of any wear and zero actual damage. Headliner, door panels, chrome trim, woodgrain sections, complete carpet, dash, instrument panels, knobs and controls….all excellent. Engine accessories were all removed and refurbished, partially repainted (drive train was not removed, no need). New true dual exhaust with H-pipe, battery and alternator, tires, belts. . .more. Hoses with stapled wire clamps and numbered ignition wires, along with many other items under the hood are original and excellent. Catalytic converters were removed. I have a near-NOS pair available if you prefer to install them. Work remaining includes the radio; it works and sounds good, sometimes. I will include an NOS AM/FM Quadrasonic 8-track unit, which is a correct factory upgrade. The passenger side mirror is difficult to adjust, working on that. That"s it. Everything else is in great working condition including the Cartier clock, all windows (with optional power vents), all 6-way adjustments on both seats, power locks, all gauges, etc. Air conditioning blows ice cold with the original R-12 system, no modifications done since new. Other unusual options include the integrated garage door opener, button on the driver’s visor. I am also including the receiver and transformer needed to use this feature with your garage door. Not included with this car is the AutoLamp feature which I consider an advantage, headlight operations are direct and simple. Body, paint, chrome, trim, mechanicals, accessories, glass - all superb, excellent plus condition. The paint is especially impressive. Runs, drives, stops, turns, perfectly. The only interior flaws are few signs of odd age/wear in the leather, but overall is also excellent. Many more details and pictures, including of the restoration process with the car apart, are available. Price is $23,000 or best offer, preferably made only after you or your agent inspect and drive the car. I am considering a Leatherique treatment to completely restore the leather interior, after which the price would be firm in any case. I"ve been happy with it as is for many years, but with the radio, would make the car like new throughout.
