Vehicle description

1976 VW Super Beetle "Bicentennial Edition"
One-Owner!
Listed on behalf of the owner.
Located near PORTLAND, OREGON.
In 1976, to commemorate the Bicentennial of the American Revolution, Volkswagen created this Special Edition Super Beetle. Just 1,000 were made and only one was allotted to each Volkswagen dealer in the U.S. to be sold during the month of June, 1976. The cars were all triple white convertibles: white interior, exterior and top, with red & blue striped graphics. Each had an "American Revolution Bicentennial 1776-1976" decal and KARMANN badge.
This particular car was purchased from Gateway Volkswagen of Portland, Oregon in June of 1976 by the woman who still owns it today. She has enjoyed it over the past 45 years, but now wants to pass it on to a new appreciative home. It is mechanically sound, never been wrecked, body is straight and in excellent condition. The body wears its original factory white paint with some minor chips on the front from driving. It has only been driven on nice days, and garage-kept.
Despite being garaged, several years ago, the owner noted that some rust had developed in the floor pans. To show how much this car has been pampered, she decided to have both right and left floor pans entirely replaced by a professional restorer. The work was meticulous as seen in the accompanying photos. The car is entirely rust-free .
At the same time, sealer, undercoating, new sound deadening pads and insulation were installed, along with new, correct gray carpeting. The seats were also reupholstered in correct-pattern white vinyl. Wood grain dash and the dash pad are original and in excellent condition. In addition, the convertible top was replaced with a new, dark blue top, (she wanted it to match the body stripes), made of insulated German A5 canvas. All doors, windows and locks work as they should. All lights and gauges also work as they should. Factory sport wheels have new radial tires with less than 200 miles on them. Shocks are also new.
PLEASE SEE PHOTOS WHICH SHOW CURRENT CONDITION.
Mechanically excellent. Always serviced as needed. The 1600cc fuel injected engine is original, has never been out of the car, and runs great. Except for regular oil changes, no major work has ever been done to it. It starts up immediately, runs and drives flawlessly.
PLEASE SEE VIDEO OF ENGINE RUNNING.
Note that the odometer stopped working at 47,533 miles (the speedometer works fine.) Except for the first couple of years, this car has not been a daily driver and the estimated total mileage is now approximately 85,000 miles - an average of only around 1,800 miles per year over the past 45 years. If you are looking for a fun, classic VW with a great one-owner history, this is it. Perfect for year-round use. Top up for fall and winter, top down for spring and summer. You will hard pressed to find a Bicentennial Edition Super Beetle in this condition. The original-issue Oregon license plates come with the car (as pictured) if purchased by an Oregon buyer. Car is currently licensed with Oregon "SP" Special-Use plates, as it is more than 25 years old. They too will come with the car if purchased by an Oregon buyer. Also comes with the original owner"s manual.
A reasonable reserve has been placed on this car in keeping with its condition and history. Please bid accordingly.
WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS WORLDWIDE AND CAN ASSIST WITH SHIPPING ANYWHERE.
Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!
