For Sale: 1976 Triumph Spitfire 1500 with overdrive. I have put a lot in to making sure this is a mechanically sound car. She is road ready, smogged, and registered for the next year. She is mainly down to window dressing now - this is the fun stuff with a visual sense of accomplishment anyway. With that being said, she looks nice as she is. She is a California car, shows 30,000+ on her speedo (previous owner said it was accurate), and I bought her from the son-in-law of the original owner - who bought it new in 1976 in Oakland (license plate frames are original).
Done: Rebuilt overdrive transmission New tires New convertible top Passed CA smog Registration is paid through Mar 2022 Rear brake job - 2 new shoes and cylinders New brake master cylinder Brake fluid flush New front and rear shocks All fluids changed, chassis lubricated New igniter kit New timing cover gasket New valve cover gasket New oil pan gasket All services needed that resulted from safety inspection (belts, hoses, fluids, etc) were performed by certified mechanics and all receipts will be provided.
Not Done: Mechanical: Control arms have some play Rear control arm bushings have play
Exterior: Mostly cosmetic and does not affect driving or safety. Steel wheels need a clean and paint Passenger side rear side marker reflector and chrome retainer need to be replaced Boot (trunk) lid has 5 small (dime to nickel sized) rust spots Driver side rear wheel well has a small rust spot along edge (approx 2 inches long) Bonnet (hood) has small (quarter sized) rust spot near headlight
Interior: Due for a carpet kit Radio was pulled for transmission work, included but not installed in case you want to replace it. Overdrive gearshift knob needs a new retaining ring, does not affect shifting Inside driver door release needs to be replaced, broken Drivers window crank needs to be reinstalled - exists and works just needs to be installed
