Vehicle description
Up for sale is my 1976 Porsche 912e sunroof coupe. This is a one year only made car in 1976. Just over 2,000 were produced making this a pretty rare car. If you"re looking for lots of history and a perfect Porsche this is not a good example. If you don"t care and just want a cheap Porsche keep looking. Unfortunately I"m having an issue starting it. A fuse keeps blowing when I turn on the ignition and I don"t want to mess with troubleshooting the issue. I may get it running but I can"t guarantee it. It was just running great two days ago but I"m not sure what happened. This is an excellent base for a backdate, outlaw build or go back to stock.
So here"s the good. . Rust free Clean title Engine and transmission are original but engine was converted to Weber carbs at some point. Just painted but if you want perfect it will need to be stripped down to bare metal and repainted. Transmission shifts great New brakes/rebuilt calipers and replaced the master cylinder All original body panels that I can tell but it does have steel SC flares that were welded on at some point. New interior over the original seats RS door panels New Momo Prototipo steering wheel Elephant racing triangular strut bar Rennline upgrades 16x6 and 16x7 SC fuch wheels with new Continental sport tires Electric sunroof works perfectly! All gauges work besides the tach. Heater and blower motor work great New coil, coil wires, steering wheel lock assembly, ignition switch Carbs/timing adjusted and runs and idles perfectly when it was running. New tail light lenses, side marker lenses and front bumper lenses. I have some original stock parts including the spare wheel, steering wheel, engine grille and rain gaurd and side skirts. Have a PPI done from Too Quicks German Auto and all maintenance was done there as well with documentation.
The bad: Currently won"t start. A fuse keeps blowing for some reason. I just drove it 70 miles this last weekend and I got home and now it doesn"t want to start. Definitely electrical as the engine runs great however it will need a rebuild at some point. Has some rod knock above 3k rpm after engine warms up. Compression was tested and it is good. Results were 105,110,105,115. Original fuel injection was ditched for Weber carbs. This I prefer but purists would prefer the original fuel injection. Obviously the car was repainted but original color is bitter chocolate. Interior was also changed to black to match. Paint has some flaws but looks good from 5 feet or so. No original wheels but does have real SC fuch wheels. Tach not working
Overall this is a bargain as I"m losing a lot by selling it. Values continue to climb, but unfortunately I need the money for a down payment on a house so my Porsche has got to go. Feel free to ask questions and I"ll respond as fast as possible. Thanks for looking!
