Vehicle description
Stunning 1974 Triumph TR6 powered by a 2.5L inline-six, paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and finished i original French blue exterior, over a black leather interior. A beautiful example of a classic British racing car, with lots of documentation showing the love and attention this car received over the years. There was a complete off-body restoration done approximately 15 years ago, along with a recent major tune up (October 2020) including having the carbs adjusted and timing reset. Overall in great condition and a true joy to drive.
Engine fires right up (has electronic ignition) and sounds very healthy. Great throttle response and engine pulls strong. Suspension handles tightly on turns, but still comfortable on longer trips. Shifts smoothly through all gears, clutch grabs good. Clean interior, featuring recently replaced carpets, and restored seats. Aftermarket RetroSound radio, ANSA exhaust system, roll bar, etc. Drives and handles great. All gauges and lights work. New wipers, full sized spare tire
During older restoration car was disassembled with engine, transmission, body panels, doors, trunk, hood, wheel well, etc removed. Lots of photos documenting this job.All systems were gone through and replaced/repaired as necessary. Extra sound barrier insulation was installed during restoration. Car was well loved throughout the years with lots of documented maintenance and updates to show.
Just this October over $2,500 spent on some updates including the starter being rebuilt, timing reset, carbs adjusted, clutchslave and cylinder replaced, brake fluid flushed, friction locks on all wires were tightened, fuel filter ground cable replaced, directionals rewired, dash gauges fixed, speedometer cable replaced, new horn installed, and replaced temperature sending unit. Car drives much more balanced now.
Has an awesome ANSA exhaust system installed with great “throaty” exhaust note. Seats were removed and had foam and webbing replaced, as well as the interior frame cleaned up ($450). Recently installed RetroSound "Laguna" AM/FM Radio with Aux input. Designed to look period correct, but with updated technology. New speakers installed (2019), New brake lines (7/2020), New floor mats from Moss Motor, New trunk panels and liner. Has new Union Jack decals. Soft top is the favored cloth, not vinyl. New trim rings, door handles, etc. In 2019 installed solenoid, "flame thrower" electronic ignition, and other parts. Body is clean, paint looks great, just a couple rust bubbles. New air filter and newer battery.
A really beautiful piece of Automotive history and such a fun car to drive, but it is time to sell it. Odometer was replaced, title says 72k, so it is estimated to be about 75k, but TMU. I love the Triumphs, they are some of the best British Sports cars out there, and seem to be going up in value. The Jaguar and Austin Healey are very expensive, but it seem these are to be next in line. This TR6 is in great condition, but is almost 50 years old, so please feel free to bring your mechanic to check out the car or ask any questions before bidding.
