Vehicle description
This car has been through a complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration over the last three years. I bought this car from a dealer auctioning his entire SAAB dealership. This was his car, completely original, very minor rust issues. The only thing I did not do was paint the car, it had been painted in 2009 and still looks fantastic with only a few minor defects.
Immediately after I purchased the car the clutch hydraulics failed. That"s when the "project creep" set in. . while I"m here I might as well. . you get the idea. So I removed the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, interior, etc. The engine was overhauled with .030 oversize pistons, several new valves, new bearings, Weber 2bbl, steel timing gears, fan delete. The transmission went to Ft Dodge where Tom Donney"s shop overhauled it. New clutch hydraulics, brake hydraulics, new brake lines, rotors, pads, new suspension bushings, rod ends, shocks. All hardware that was reused was cad-plated. New electrical relays, custom gauge cluster. There were three small areas of sheet metal repair where metal was removed and patches welded. HID headlights and many other lighting upgrades to include an LED third brake light, LED back up and turn signal lights. The wheels have been powder coated in "Hyper-Silver" for an updated modern look over the old "soccer ball" design. New SAAB plastic center caps. I tried to make this car as modern as possible with all upgrades while holding true to the original. Tom Donney saw the car while it was disassembled and he told me I had one of the finest Sonett III"s in country.
This SAAB story is a long one, and since it is a long story, I invite SAAB enthusiasts to contact me and ask all the questions you want. I have hundreds of photos of the work as it progressed. I"ll be happy to provide any information you need. This ad is really to introduce the green queen to the market. This is my third Sonett III, the last one I overhauled made the cover of "NINES" magazine. This car is better than that one. Some bullet points about the restoration. This list is not all-inclusive.
