Vehicle description
You are Looking at a nice 1974 Porsche 914 1.8. This car is not a project and can be used and enjoyed today. Starts, runs, drives , and stops as it should. very Fun car to drive. I have owned this car 30+ years and it has always been roadworthy and plated and insured, as it is now.
This car is in original unrestored condition, I have only used the car in the summer months and sunny days and has always been stored indoors. The paint I believe is a pretty good respray from before I had the car (1984). I dont think its original paint, yet its the same paint since I"ve owned the car. Still shines and looks very good, but is not flawless. There are many minor dings and chips in the paint. There are a few minor dents as well. The bright color makes it hard to see the dings and dents. Tires are very good, good battery.
This is the original motor to the car. 1.8 motor EC030624. The motor runs strong and has no issues. The original fuel injection was removed from the car in the 80s and the car now uses a single Weber 150 progressive carb. set up. This system is very reliable and provides plenty of power.
The Battery was relocated from the engine compartment to the rear trunk in the 80s as well. This was to prevent the typical 914 "hellhole" rust from developing. This 914 is very solid and tight but not 100% rust free; There are some bubbling areas along the edge of the windshield trim (photos) and along the top edge of the passenger door. there is a small bubbling spots around the door jamb latches (photos) All the rust areas are very small and minor. No chassis structural rot at all!
The interior upholstery is original and still looks great! Targa top and weather stripping is all functional with minor wear. Targa top latches securely and tight on the car, and stows in the rear trunk.
All gauges work and seem to be accurate. Odometer has NEVER worked since I"ve owned the car so the mileage is truely unknown? I have used the car as a TOY my entire 36+ year ownership and the car was never used as "transportation" So I suspect the actual mileage is not too high. Horn does not work.
All lights work. Except the front fog lamps; I added these lights and grills as an upgrade several years ago, But I never wired the correct switch to the dash.
The car is For Sale NO RESERVE; highest bidder wins the car. I have a boxster now and the 914 doesn"t get driven enough. And I have too many cars. Great car for a future restoration?. Or just have fun with it now.
This car could drive to Florida or Texas, no problem! There"s no AC and your back would be sore, but the car is reliable.
All valid forms of payment are good. But I will not release the car until I"m satisfied I"ve been paid. Clear Illinois title in my name.
I live near Sheridan ,IL 60 miles SW of Chicago. You are welcome to inspect and test drive the car. NO SHIPPING The car is for sale locally. You are responsible to get the car home! I will work with YOUR shipper, no problem
