“This example was made in May 1974 by British Leyland in Abingdon, England and was owned by the same MG enthusiast owner for the past decade and a previous long term MG enthusiast owner prior, North American MGB Register #2-929. Dressed in seldom-seen Cintron (think grass in early spring) the paint pairs well with the black, folding soft-top and black vinyl interior. The soft-top is in overall very good order. That bright and shiny green grass-colored paint is in overall excellent order while the car’s body is straight and all the trim pieces are presented nicely. The original painted engine bay is very tidy, the cargo area looks good and has the following – a spare tire with cover, a jack and a tire iron. The car’s chrome bumpers with overriders look great and fit tightly to the body. No Sabrinas here!” |

1974 MG MGB Convertible Mark III Vehicle Information VIN: GHN5UE349735G Mileage: 55,193 Color: Cintron Trans: Four-speed manual Engine: 1.8L OHV, 4-cyl Title: Clear Interior: black vinyl Description 1974 MG MGB Convertible Mark III
• Same MG enthusiast owner for the past decade and long term enthusiast owner prior • North American MGB Register #2-929 • Finished correctly in stunning Cintron paint (BLVC 73) that is seldom-seen • Original black vinyl interior and black folding soft-top • 1.8L OHV, twin-cam, four-cylinder engine with dual SU carburetors • Four-speed manual transmission and 3.91 gearing • Factory MG wheels • Chrome front and rear bumpers
Desire a classic two-seater but a Mazda Miata’s not your style? What about a MG? This chrome bumper Mk. III version is a clean and very pretty convertible and is ready to go – day trips, weekend getaways, etc. This MG is correctly finished in rare and very hard to find Cintron exterior! It brilliantly pops in the sun with the chrome bumpers and factory wheels!
This example was made in May 1974 by British Leyland in Abingdon, England and was owned by the same MG enthusiast owner for the past decade and a previous long term MG enthusiast owner prior, North American MGB Register #2-929.
No Sabrinas here!
This MG rolls on radials, size 185/70R14 at all four corners and each tire is mounted to a factory MG alloy wheel. The wheels and tires are all in good, original order.
Under the bonnet is a 1.8L OHV, twin-cam, four-cylinder engine with dual SU carburetors. Backing up this motor is a four-speed manual transmission and a 3.91:1 rear end. Inside, the vinyl bucket seats look great, as does the matching carpet. A wrapped, three-spoke steering wheel is ready for adventure and frames the dashboard quite well. The instrument panel and inner door liners are in good, original order while the center console and shift lever look great, but the speedo/odometer are inoperable. An AM/FM stereo with cassette deck and five-band graphic equalizer completes the interior.
The roadster was the first of the MGB range to be produced. The body was a pure two-seater; a small rear seat was a rare option at one point. By making better use of space the MGB was able to offer more passenger and luggage accommodation than the earlier MGA while being three inches shorter overall. The suspension was also softer, giving a smoother ride and the larger engine gave a slightly higher top speed. Wheel diameter dropped from 15 to 14 inches.
Convertible competition to this MG in 1974 included Alfa Romeo’s Spider 1300 Junior, MG’s own Midget and Morgan’s 4/4 and Triumph’s TR6.
If a bright and cute classic British two-seater is your idea of driving fun, you should find time to stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars and check out this great driving and previously loved MGB two-seater.
