Vehicle description
1974 1/2 MGB - My MGB still wears a good portion of it"s original paint. It spent most of it"s life in southern California and has absolutely no rust . It also has a rebuilt overdrive. I was able to transfer the cars California title to a clear Georgia title in my name. I have owned the car almost 2 years and have put about 1000 miles on it. The car runs very good, nice power, handles well, tracks straight.

Here’s what I know of the car’s history. I bought the car indirectly from the previous owner who had the car since 1983. It was in San Diego, and was apparently a southern California car from new. That owner said he had the engine rebuilt, had new shocks installed, plus new (not rebuilt) SU HIF carburetors, along with a fuel pump. I don"t have any proof of any of that work. The body has NO rust, and I truly mean just that. It still wears a good portion of its original paint, which still looks nice. It had however, had some very old paint touchup on the left side. It looked like a small dent on the upper portion of the left fender had been repaired, and the paint had been spot painted on the upper fender, left door and rear quarter. Not all over those pieces, just in spots. That paint (very old lacquer) had turned a darker green over the years. I had the paint scan matched. Portions as needed of the left side were painted with (Dupont) basecoat, but the complete panels clear-coated. The hood also got clear-coated, mainly because of a little old over-spray on the left edge. Panel gaps are all good, doors close nicely, there"s no evidence of ever having any collision damage. Things I’ve done to the car, in doing all these things I was trying to fix problems before they start and make it where I could get in and go: Mechanical - New stainless exhaust system. Converted to blue label overdrive (OD in 3 rd and 4 th ), overdrive unit rebuilt by Dick Moritz, gearbox has new seals, gaskets and bearings. While the engine was out for the overdrive, I had the head converted to run with unleaded fuel - rebuilt with new valves (stainless for the exhaust), guides and hardened valve seats (it already had dual valve springs). New oil cooler and hoses. Electrical – New items: correct original style wiring harness (main, dash, rear, headlamp), 43 amp alternator, replacement 45D points distributor, Lucas sport coil, fuse box, wiper/OD switch. LED brake/tail light bulbs, LED dash gauge bulbs, battery. Radio has bluetooth with external microphone. There’s also a power point and USB port in the console. Suspension – New items: front suspension bushings, tie rod ends, springs, driveshaft u-joints. This year MGB did not come with a front sway bar, so I added one with new rubber parts. 4 new tires and alignment. Hydraulics – New items: brake and clutch master cylinders, clutch slave, calipers, rear wheel cylinders, front rotors, brake pads, shoes, all flexible hoses. Heat/cooling – new hoses, uprated heater core, water pump, heater control valve, ABS lower air duct panel, radiator serviced. Trim – New items: dash cover, sun visors, seat covers, headrest covers, door panels, window crank handles, carpet, convertible top with zipped rear window, short tonneau cover. Original full tonneau is in good condition. General – Rear differential oil changed, new air filter elements, fan belt.
