Vehicle description
This 1974 Mercedes Benz 408 fire truck is an amazing piece of history and ready to be your next camper, overland vehicle, promotional vehicle, or taco truck. It"s in incredible shape.
The truck spent most of its life as a fire engine in Europe and was brought over to the US where a coffee shop in Texas was using it as a promotional vehicle/mobile coffee cart.
The truck has only 32,370 KM (20,113 miles) on it. This is a true number, not a turned over number because the odometer currently reads 032,365 km.
The truck starts every single time we have started it. It has a manual choke, as older European vehicles do. The truck runs smooth engine wise. Shifting is kinda funny as you have to match RPMs sometimes to do a shift. Not sure if its a clutch adjustment or sychronizer in the trans. Either way, it"s fine to go as is!
The truck comes with the pump that mounts to the front bumper, as well as as a 2.5 gallon hot water heater, 15 gallon fresh water tank, and a 25 gallon waste water tank. Also mounted inside are racks for cups (or other items), TWO functional sinks, food tray, and other features. Would be awesome to outfit the back as a sleeper too! The inside seats 2 up front and 7 in the back. The possibilities of this engine / adventure wagon are endless. Think Sprinter, Unimog, Transit, Westfalia, Vanagon, VW Bus etc. Truck is available in Fort Collins for test drives and inspection.
We may be able to work out a shipping option. Email for info. Other photos and information available upon request. Thanks for looking!
