Vehicle description
This 1974 240D looks to be all original with a very straight dent free body. This is an original California vehicle and it is rust free. The car runs well and feels to have a very strong engine and transmission. These are the vehicles strong points: clean body, rust free, strong engine and transmission, low miles.
The car is in need of some work, this being said I just drove it down the road a couple miles and have assessed the vehicle as follows: Steering wheel feels as if the power steering pump needs to be replaced, the brakes do not feel strong and work better when “pumped”, the car starts right up when cold if the glow plugs are hooked to a jumper wire momentarily. I believe the glow plug switch or controller is not working properly. All the glass is in good condition with the exception of the upper right corner of the windshield, which interestingly has a crack that begins and ends in that corner as seen in the photo. The interior is in fair condition and needs some refurbishment and or detail work. Tires are old and should be replaced. Lastly the hood release cable is stuck, I have simply been using a screwdriver to unlatch the hood. This being said the car has tons of potential, I believe it to have 120,260 miles. These engines are known to run over one million miles and this one is very strong.
