Vehicle description
Up for sale is my 1974 Karmann Ghia. The prices on these collector cars seem to be rising rapidly. I bought it as a project to restore but I just don’t have the time or energy right now to start on it. The good: Engine runs good. I adjusted the valves and replaced the spark plugs. There is an electronic ignition in the distributor. I did a compression check and it was 120 lbs on all four cylinders. There are VDO gauges for oil pressure and oil temperature, The transmission shifts well in all four gears both up and down and the clutch works as it should with no unusual noises. The car brakes and steers good. The tires are about 50% tread left. The 4 way flashers work and the turn signals work. The windshield wipers work. The glass all around is in good condition with no cracks or chips. The body appears straight. The paint is about a 6 or a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10 with the paint at the back half of the car looking better than the front half. The headliner is good. The doors open and shut as they should and the back quarter windows open and close as they should. 2 sets of keys come with the car. The Bad: There are a few small areas in various places where the paint shows signs of bubbling from under the paint. The carpeting is worn. The window regulators need rebuilding or replacing as the windows cannot be cranked down with the handles. The drivers inner door panel and handles were removed and comes with the car. The wiring needs to be sorted out. The headlight switch doesn’t work. There is a toggle switch under the dash to turn on the electrics. The starter switch on the steering column has been bypassed with a starter button on two wires. The horn button has been placed under the dash and works. There is a battery disconnect switch at the battery. This wiring all needs to be sorted out. The hood opening cable in the glove compartment has been bypassed with a pull cable under the right front fender. The small back seat is missing and the battery is located there. The Ugly: The painted-on flames although some people said they liked them. It looks like they were professionally done. The steering wheel is not stock for the car. I have tried to describe the car as best I can. That being said, this car is being sold AS IS, WHERE IS. There is no reserve so bid to win. Shipping is up to the buyer. $500 deposit due upon winning bid and the balance due in 7 days in cash, or cashiers check drawn on a bank in the United States. After the check clears, I will send the signed title to you and you and then you can arrange to pick up the car. NO RESERVE AUCTION!
