Vehicle description

We have owned and enjoyed this Beetle for 13 years and it"s a hit everywhere it goes. You cannot drive this car anywhere and stay in a bad mood. Others will be smiling at you, giving you a thumbs up or asking to take pictures of and with this car. It has an "Up Your Bug" body lift kit that raises it up 3 inches without altering the suspension and this also adds 3 inches of headroom inside the car. We added disc brakes front and rear for safe, easy stopping. The front fenders, hood and rear fenders are made of fiberglass. It has a roll cage and the side nerf bars and front and rear push bars are powdercoated for durability. The engine was rebuilt 6100 miles ago with aftermarket heads, dual Kadron carbs and electronic igntion and has been dyno tested at 72 hp and 86 ft/lbs of torque to the wheels on a Mustang Dyno. See attached video for dyno session. For extra durability, an oil cooler and spin-on oil filter have been added and make maintenance a breeze. The dash is full of genuine VDO gauges for speed, rpm, oil temp, fuel level and amps. The car has air horns and definitely get attention when you honk at someone. It"s been entered in several car shows and has won each time, including prizes for "Best Foreign Custom" and for "People"s Choice" The decal on the doors are vinyl and can be removed if you don"t like them. The oversize tires really complete the package and are perfectly proportioned for the car. As a side affect of the big tires, the ride is actually quite good over potholes and speed bumps. It has a whip flag on the back and we usually run a Jolly Roger flag on it. We have never gone off roading with it. It just gets brought out for cruise night and cars shows. And now for the bad stuff. The roll cage was welded in by someone used to making roll cages for race cars so they didn"t allow for the window cranks. The windows do crank up and down but the door has to be slightly ajar so the crank can be turned all the way around. Due to the cool stinger exhaust, the car has no heater because Beetles get their heat from heat exchangers around the exhaust and the stinger does not have this provision. The windshield washer does not work because it has no resevoir for fluid. There are squirters and the wipers work but not the washers, it"s an easy fix if you want to add washers. The engine has a slight oil leak. We change the oil every spring and have never once had to add oil between oil changes.
