THE WINNING BID ON THIS VAN WAS A NONE PAY FROM THE UK . ONLY BID IF YOU CAN AFFORD THE PURCHASE PRICE PLUS YOUR SHIPPING COST.
Well what was an awesome auction ended as a dead end. As stated the winning bid was from the UK and at some point the cost of shipping or the reality of their commitment to the purchase has caused them to not complete the transaction. So the motocross themed van of John Simpatico is up for auction along with the 1975 Husqvarna CR360 that the van was designed to haul. The Husky is a true one owner with all original paper work. This is the perfect setup for a vintage motocross racer or a dirtbike lovin hippie that just wants to relive their younger day. During the running of the last auction I was contacted by Rideapart.com they where interested in doing a write up on the former owner John and the van that he had built along with his motocross history. Rideapart.com wrote a very nice article and I thank them for that. Go to their website and take a look it is definitely worth reading.
1974 Dodge Van Tradesman 100 This Van is a true testament to the free spirited life of the 1970"s. As seen in the photos the air brush work tells the story with wild colors and crazy artwork. Just like the motocross movie from the 70"s ON ANY SUNDAY this van is all about dirt bikes and being a free spirit. The dirt bike in the artwork is a Husqvarna ( HUSKY ).The owner was on the top of his game with a dealer sponsorship he raced locally and needed transportation to and from the tracks. The purchase of a new 1974 van was the best of both worlds and the customizing began with local talent KING KUSTOM PAINT and Designs & Lettering by SPOOK. The van took shape both inside and out and was ready for the custom car shows. Starting in 1975 the van had placed 1st at shows in Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse. The van was a motocross hauler when not showing. It was used through 1981 at that time the story played out with a wife and kids. The van sat in the garage until Dec 2019. Since 2019 the van has had the basics ie: battery, fluids, tune up,and some brake work . The engine runs very well, the previous owner said it has a small crane cam along with headers feeding side pipes ( side pipes show age ).I had driven the van on a short drive around town and on the expressway about 30 miles. It drives OK but the looks and thumbs up is what made the ride fun. This has been a summer only vehicle so the body and underside are very clean. The paint and art work on the front and back are dry and show there age. Art work on the sides are holding up well and still look very nice. The interior looks nice and is holding up nice with the exception of the bucket seats they both have split. Overall this van has only 39,822 miles and is COOL AS HELL. This would be a lot of fun at shows and cruise nights. Look at the photos this van is cool. Message me with questions.
